Yes RO is the way to go but for the amount of water i need for the size of my plants it is not practical. The $200 units say they can handle 50 gallons a day, but the holding tank is like 2 gallons. So i need to be there to fill up 2 gallons at a time as it slowly replenishes and filters the water. I would need to be home every day and be filling water jugs every few hours just to obtain the water i need. Also i heard that reverse osmosis does a number on your septic system pushing through about 70% of the water it filters into your waste water. So i only get 3 gallons for every 10 gallons it processes and my septic gets filled up quick.

My PH from the well is 6.9

So my question now..... Is treating my water with the pool even make sense if the water is softened? I thought the salts would fall to the bottom and i could pump from the top? If i should be pulling the water before it hits the softener it might be some plumbing work and some hoses. My landlord doesn't like anyone messing with his house either. This is why i was hoping to just treat the water coming from my tap.

Nope, sure doesnt make sense
The salts in your water are dissolved solids. They are not going to fall to the bottom unless they precipitate somehow.
Yeah, you speak the truth about RO but go to freedrinkingwater.com thats their systems are a little more pricy but made in USA and output about 2 gallons/hour which is very decent. Why not fill a pool with RO water so you have plenty to spare?
