Try DJ Short's Blue Line.
Ideal>cooler night time temps help, and outdoor growers seem to get color more frequently.
"Purple Lines" frequently lack in other, more important areas, tread carefully when selecting for simply color.
The Tao of Rez Says: "Purple is pretty, but it doesn't mean shit in a pipe."
....Back in the Overgrow days, people would have screamed "photoshop!!" at some of these beautiful buds,it was a real hoot!
Yep, you're not wrong there Rez. I would say most (not all!) of the purple weed I've smoked, apart from DJ Short's, has been of average potency, and generally uninteresting high. Unlike these babies...
My C99 Mom is kickass, but she's not inherently purple. In fact,it takes a special environmental combo to bring out those hues of lots of strains. I had The Sour Diesel Clone for a year and a half before she turned violet in late flower on me-but all the Sour Diesel progeny I've created over the years have shown about all the colors you could ever want to see in marijuana,so Sour D definitely carries a real 'colorful' gene. Strawberry Diesel is a rainbow of colors.
the c99 i had in the old daze was a real nice morning smoke for awhile but i gave her up after i tried some original Flo
most important factor for the pipe/joints is obviously the quality of the finished product and not yield/vigor (this are invisible traits if enjoying some nugs with a friend) ...while the funky bud-color is cool eye'candy before smoking (and already during growing
Dj found the right combination of colorful plants + very high trichome density, resulting in some special taste & effect
his blue family is something original/unique in the cannabis world, the purple thai genes are very powerful in this lines
i made enough experimentation with the blues (inline-crossed & hybridization with green lines) so i can say that they really are an outstanding piece of art. the cannabis part of my life would be much more boring/linear without this flavors in the garden.
the sourD makes excellent hash ...but again hard to compare with a right F-13... which is a different space
i'm interested how the sourD will combine with PTK from Tom ...just made some fresh indoor sour~kush beans
don't believe the s~k will be purple at all, the sour female was overall much green and so was also the pakistani father
but it should be some fine smoke anyway! also made some Sweet kush - can't wait to compare both during this summer
the deep chunk is an other special line, makes great crosses and is very dominant for the coloration. love my skunk/chunk ...it's far better than any dutch "afghan/skunk" or "skunk/afghan" that i grew in the early daze.
will be interesting to explore the progeny from a frosty deep chunky female and a colorful cocoa kush daddy ...this is my central project for this year... the cross will be originally developed for outdoors under the sun.
I'm gonna be gone for a while I bet you guys will keep this thread alive pretty good. Don't forget the purple strain connoisseur thread Beautiful pics everyone!!!
Heres a purple biddy early F2 i grew indoors last year she's a dam fruity bitch but put out bollocks second time round so she got culled.
and a purple calyxed nice spicy/leathery/musky colombian gold i grew last year and i've just put some more into bloom so i'll get some pics of those soon.
I grew this little bit of colour a while back, H3ad Seeds G-13 Deisel...my purple pheno...yes...yes...I wish I had grabbed a couple clones from this girl...thanks for your views...DD
