Think I've seen this episode. Isn't it the one that ends with the rat hides in the corner surrounded by all his cheese and is screwing himself?
Seriously random, you have 00 respect here.

ARRRRGGGHHH!

This DNA commercialisation of X18 puts me in a major moral quandry! I have nothing but the deepest respect for Tom Hill and Raco, especially for their inspiring growing and breeding efforts. I'm a landrace colelctor and already have a number of indica landraces in seedform, but I've wanted to obtain the X18 for a long time, especially with Deep Chunk being a personal favourite.

Now DNA have X18 seeds available, I want some, but two things bother me about this

1. The dubious ethics and morals involved in the acquisition and creation of the DNA X18

2. The unknown nature of the male used, no pics of info forthcoming, just some reference to a male having been saved from a police bust. So would the DNA X18 seeds indeed be Raco X18 female x DNA X18 male or Raco X18 female x some Indica male (such as from DNA's Pure Afghan line)?

A friend grew out DNA's Pure Afghan and had 4 females, all were lacking in resin and potency, poor example of an Afghani indica.

I wish DNA had taken the morally less ambiguous path and shown people via pics that they indeed had a saved X18 male, then they could have asked Raco if he would be interested in exchanging cuts so that the X18 line could be preserved. Perhaps a little less profit to be made monetarily if following this route but surely the moral and ethical kudos and good karma of taking this path would outweigh any purely commercial motives?

It won't be too long before folks get to grow out DNA's X18 seeds and hopefully it will be fairly obviously apparent whether they have indeed made an X18 line or whether it is an X18 hybrid.

Tonight, West Coast time, on a special Saturday episode of The X-18 project. This Autumn on International Cannagraphic, your serial has an old Pakistani blue.

Sorry Ratdomºº,my sheepish is sadly rusty :violin:

No matter how much I'd love to have this strain in my garden, I would never give my business to DNA after this.. Not that they got a dime from me before.. But out of respect for Raco and Tom's work...

...why not DNA-test the male, and the female...and show the results...
can it be done?
if so...
is it VERY expensive??
if it holds true that DNA can buy awards (many ppl think so),DNA-testing their X18 cuts should be something they can afford...

Now,if TomHill himself chimes in...I´ll STFU....

Raco, DNA should send you some of their X18 beans so you can gauge their consistency vs your original, but of course, if something fishy has occurred and their X18 is indeed a hybrid, they will avoid doing this. However, there is nothing to stop you buying a pack when they are on sale and doing said comparison. Direct comparison by a respected chap such as yourself would blow a big hole in their pirate ship if it turns out to be a hybrid.

Very sad that a man is trusted with a cut and then gives it to a seed bank known for lieing to the consumer and end result is we can't get any more of Raco's cuts. Now THAT stinks..

I hated the way they used the word preservation to get Raco to agree ,he isn't going to turn down a chance that this cut will be used for preservation and the request made by a so called friend they just didn't tell him the whole truth just enough to get him to agree. Slime balls!!!! Sounds like ole friendly friend again. :cuss:

Ratdom must have been a smooth talker , gets cuts that some people would give their first child for and only had like 70 posts. I guess Raco must have met him online somewhere else. Very smooth talker ,used the preservation of the line to get the cut to seed sellers, man I cannot believe this dude, can't tell me he isn't getting a share in the profits.

hehe, yeah preservation, think charlie garcia said it best, he gets the eby gebies when he sees that word, lol. 90% of the so called breeders havent the skill let alone the room to do anything but make some beans outta 10 packs.

my favorite word goin around is assention(sp) wtf does that mean, lol.

FF is over at bcbuddepot, hes writein there breedin stickies, lol

calls himself erf,elf or somethin like that.
