WTF are these????

I placed the sticky strips on the soil surface and 1 day later it looked like someone dusted the strip with little flecks of pencil lead, I tried a macro and this is the only shot I could get.
The bugs look like microscopic caterpillars, 2 antenna and a twig like body.
There are 1000s of these. They are almost invisible.

Please help?

Gnat larva???

sorry for lousy pics. The antenna are at the side of the head like a normal brown ant. The body reminds me of those bark colored inchworms , minus any noticable legs.
I have looked at plants under same eye pc and no critters like sproutco offered up.After checking peat I stand corrected.

I have had 1 or 2 fungus gnats but no real issues.
I am thinking maybe thrip larva based on "The Complete guide to Sick Plants,pH, and Pest troubles!" STICKY but I can't spot any damage on plants.

I am going to go partake of some GROGG and have a microscopic hunt in the cannabis jungle. Maybe I can bag me a thrip or two. I will also be releasing the hounds AKA ladybugs again. This should keep the bastards at bay.

Warm weather has brought our ladybugs out of hibernation and into my garage again.Look for the reddist ones and man they are eating machines.

WOW that was quite the hunting expedition. No bugs in greenery at all.
Get into the jungle floor and the critters got a traffic jam.Looks like spidermite larva or aphids,in the peat mix. Also looks like thrips, again in the peat mix, not in the greenery.
I have released the hounds x3(ladybugs) so should remove alot of the critters soon. I gotta figure out a way to attach my magnifier to my camera.

possibly a fungus gnat but i only saw one and killed it promptly. Plus i seem to be having a bigger problem with powdery mildew than anything else. But where can i buy some sticky strips at?

Man, poor Peasant. You got all kinds of problem.

I say it's fungus gnat larvae (man, sproutco's got something for the thrips, eh?).

If so, you can try a soil soak with insecticidal soap (Safer's) but the best solution is beneficial nematodes. Not sure who carries those this time of year. They will seek and destroy any larvae or pest in your soil - gnats, thrips whatever. Best solution.

A last good preventative is to let the soil dry some and make sure the top 2 inches or so remains dry. One good solution I've seen is someone put a couple inch layer of hydroton pellets on top of the soil. Fungus gnat larvae needs moist soil in the top layer of your pots. It looks like you are overwatering and/or not sufficient drainage in your soil - add more perlite to the soil - don't breathe the dust.

Sorry just realized it was not Peasant's thread but same info applies. Sticky strips will not get rid of any insect, just keeps the numbers down. Ladybugs will not get the larvae in the soil, and they will fly straight to your bright light and die. Use the nematodes...here's a link to help you locate some...

http://www.bugladyconsulting.com/Suppliers of beneficial insects.htm

talk to the people and explain your problem - different species nematodes for different pests. Tell em your Hibiscus are infected with what you believe are fungus gnats.

Gonna go check on your PM thread, Peasant. Hope you got it under control.

Cheers everyone!
