K . The best authority I know of in MMA Bas Rutten answered this question re Bruce Lee on Inside MMA .
His reply . Bruce would be out techniqued by the modern MMA fighters . At his natural weight class. But ... he also said an athlete with the athleticism and ability to learn new techniques and incorporate styles that Bruce showed would adapt quickly . With the right camp and enough time and training . Yes Bruce could have been very successful .

Bas talks Bruce Lee on Inside MMA .
re Chuck Norris .
Google Chuck Norris meets the Gracies ...
Chuck brought the Gracie family to the US for seminars pre UFC . They made his Karate students look inept . Chuck himself was choked unconscious by Old Helio himself . So again Chuck may have been successful if he had started training in the multi disciplines of MMA and not just becoming a master of one facet of . Though Chuck has since studied Ju Jitsu with the Gracies for nigh on 30 years since .

Chuck talks 1st time training with the Gracies .

LMFAO at Seagal trained Anderson Silva. He did a few lesson with him where im pretty sure he learned nothing applicable to mma.

None of the guys in any movies ever could compete as is, not even close, but given the proper training from early on they might be able to do ok.

If Bruce Lee took all the same steroids these UFC guys did....He'd be like Ryu from Street Fighter 2 putting the All you Can down on everyone ....

Lee & Norris weren't they a couple of B-grade movie stars? Not one of the (if you'll pardon the saying) "giants" in the the artists like Harry Reems aka Johnny Wad.

Actually Bruce Lee was at a karate tournament in San Francisco and challenged any man in the room .. he claimed to be able to beat any man in the tournament in 60 seconds or less. Guess what happened... thats right, Bruce Lee kicked dudes ass!

Didnt he have a open contract on his head aswel by the movie make that anybody who could beat bruce lee in a fight would get a straight up movie deal?He was alway being challenged seen him talk about it in a doc time ago (anybody seen it cant remember its name?) anyway he talks about this one guy who came to test him when he was at home with his family and how he kick him so much harder than anything or anyone he kick before (poor bastard lol)

Without additional training neither would win a title in today's UFC.

All of the title holders are phenomenal martial artists and athletes. They are highly technical and they're a far cry from the early UFC days. They also train specifically for the rules they fight under.

I think that Bruce Lee would've done well because he was extraordinarily dedicated. He was also progressive with his ideas and he already cross trained. I think he would've taken it a step further and become an excellent grappler. With his background he would've been unorthodox and difficult to decipher.

I read some of his book about Jeet Kune Do and you can tell that he was a very cerebral guy who broke techniques down in detail. He valued efficiency highly and was welcoming of new (effective) techniques. I think his style would've been unique and he would have introduced new under utilised techniques.

You win some, you lose some, Chuck Norris wins all.

The man who beat the sun in staring contest, the man who gained the interest of The Most Interesting Man in The World, cares not for petty contests in the vein of UFC, therefore this thread is moot.

If Chuck Norris wants your opinion, he will beat it out of you.

Well.... If there was a UFC in the 70's, you'd have fighters from the 70's and I bet Bruce and Chuck would do pretty well. Specifically Bruce.

Check out Shoalin Chin na, you ground and pounders. ;) It's old as shit, basically Chinese jiu jutsu, and would have been studied by Lee along with the rest of the kung fu he learned.

Bruce Lee would not compete in the UFC. Hr wouldn't be able to do most of his deadly tactics. UFC/MMA was not what Lee was about. He was about self defense.

IMHO there is nobody ever in UFC/MMA that would win a street fight with Bruce Lee. They would lose an eye or suffer a crushed windpipe and most likely die.

In the street you can manipulate small joints, strike the eyes, kick to the groin, punch to the groin, use pressure points, knee on the ground and punch and kick to the back of the head.

Let's not lose site of what we are really talking about. Who would be the baddest man on the planet? That would be Bruce Lee. He would blind Cain Velasques with two blinding strikes and kill him with a head kick.

In a challenge to the death there would not be anyone in the UFC/MMA that would show up. That would tell you everything you need to know.

Even with Bruce Lee dead the baddest man on the planet is not in the UFC/MMA or boxing. It is some unknown guy out there.

In the real world you can hold the fence, punch or bite somebody in the nuts when they try to triangle choke and break their fingers if they try to rear naked choke you. When somebody is breaking your fingers you tend to not hang on with a body lock and choke.

Chuck was an instrumental force showcasing the Gracie style of Jiu Jitsu to the mainstream martial arts scene during the late eighties and early nineties.
Without Chuck's endorsement's the UFC might of never got its feet off the ground.

Question is would they dominate UFC and the answer is NO. The wrestlers would take them down at will and lay n pray or ground and pound them both. If the guys/girls in UFC or MMA in general fought with no rules it might be different outcome but there is rules and todays Jone Jones, Jose Aldos, Anderson Silvas would crush them both. I like Lee and Norris but in all reality there not up to todays standards.

traditional martial arts is being integrated some what in mma, but not to a huge extent because people see it as old and not applicable somehow, even though the move's, when they are done at speed are very dangerous. physical strength or size is only half the equation with regard to traditional martial arts, even one of bruce lee's style's that he was taught(wing chun by ip man) the story goes it was invented by a women who used it to fight her soon to be husband who was a war lord, and escape. oh and my money is on bruce lee.

here are video's of traditional martial arts demonstrations, some of them are being performed in a mma setting.

i hear this alot..
mostly from people who have never been on the mat.
have you ever been choked to sleep?
you have ~4 seconds to locate, isolate and open a fist behind your head. then you have to isolate a finger while preventing the fist from closing, isolate a joint and apply the appropriate fulcrum.
all while that tunnel is closing on your consciousness extremely rapidly.

not as easy as "break a finger"
the problem with those "deadly" throat strikes and eye gouges is you CAN NOT ever practice them in full contact situations at the gym.
i mean i guess you can but one eyed throat crushed sparring partners are useless.
ill take practical over theoretical everyday!

Next question

So Royce gracie who is only slightly bigger than Bruce won the 1 st UFC event .
But Bruce who was the 1st true mixed martial artist has no chance . Better check yourself bro .
The Chinese community sent their best man to challenge Bruce over teaching Kung fu to westerners . Bruce choked the dude unconscious . Fighting is not all about size and brawn ...

Chuck no chance . We saw the karate guys get submitted . But Bruce had a combination of styles using only the most effective parts of many styles including fencing for in out foot work . Educate yourself before drawing conclusions K .
