Worst drying/curing advice that you still see people going by?

i spent a longggg while lurking different forums and the vast differences between people discussing Drying/curing was a bit wild because alot of it seemed like horrible old advice that i was following & didn't realize how close I was to ruining my crop. Once i got on Here & just went through a few threads it was clear you shouldn't listen to everyone on the internet. Its all about drying and curing. i realized i could grow the best shit ever but without proper drying it's really like throwing away money lol

Now with the amount of people who are here and probably seen alot of BS. what's the worst advice that people typically spew when it comes to drying & curing?

Everyone is different and has different ways of doing things. If someone is open-minded they can do much better than someone thats close-minded. That's what makes the difference between successful skills and unsuccessful skills. If a person is happy with their results thats all that really matters. Thanks for your input friend.

Put it into a carton box! For me worst advice. I have friends still doing it because they are afraid of mold. I think it dries too fast and you get a carton note imo. Maybe it has it’s place, for me a no go. The longer the drying/curing the better I guess, but also fresh weed had it’s place. I like it after 2 weeks drying and also after a longer cure. I enjoy the difference of one and the same weed. This plant is amazing

I'm for the cardboard box.. worst thing that can happen at the end of 100 days or so, is 'mold'.. Opening and closing 30 half gallon mason jars each holding an ounce of 70-90 day harvested bud is a PITA. Forgetting or overlooking the 'burping' process the first week or so can easily put an end to a successful grow. Cant imagine pounds harvested. Box, no burping just ambient humidity control. After the bud is hung and trimmed , it goes at 50% (into the box) it can later go into the jars if you must I've done it both ways, I'm into the box. Don't think its bad advice... as written many times; we all have our ways to success. Success, in my garden, is measured by my opinion.

Cardboard breathes.
That's the reason paper bags and cardboard boxes work so well.
I used to hang branches inside a big tv cardboard box and throw that box outside with big holes in it
Not in summer ofcourse, you want normal weather, 24c
7-10 days it's dry and perfect, you smoke it, if it's good, have taste and high, you jar it and smoke & cure as time passes
If it's shit I just throw it away
No cure will make it better.

This is all for pheno hunts, production runs when you know what your growing is good, it's better to dry even slower for a better overall finish and curing

I understand Why people do it! I like my drying process controlled temperature and humidity because I don’t like no bone dry buds, that’s why I would never do it! I know that not everyone has that possibility but like you said, after all the work you want the final product to be the best version of itself! I understand your fears though ! Everyone should do it like they want! That’s why I stopped swapping buds (with most) because I take a risk to get top shelf and get passed a dry tasteless bud haha just my 2 cents! Happy growing!

That's cool I no longer dry in cardboard haha that was 20 years ago when I was young and trying to dry a brightside cheese outside, you can understand why I had it thrown in a box in the woods behind my house
That shit stank to high heaven, and everything was basic then
Anyway, today I have a nice room with AC
I set it to 22-24c, RH usually 50-55
After 10 days I jar it (if it's good, cuz I test them along the way)

'hang dry 'til the stems snap'

...i too have just discovered the paper bag method and wet trim straight to the bags. in 1 to 2 weeks they seal up at 65-70 rh and the stems are still pliable. plus it is a breeze to wet trim straight to paper bags compared to hang drying a whole plant then trimming later, and such a space saver also

that's not to say ambient rh has no effect. if ambient rh is too low i might line the bags with plastic bags to keep rh in the bags at 60%. if too high i leave the bags open etc

a lot of the old school advice just needs an addendum, like hang dry yes, but only if the ambient rh is within range. where i live much of the year rh is too low to risk losing all the terps in two days of hang drying

Cardboard breathes.
That's the reason paper bags and cardboard boxes work so well.

Down at the DEA forensics lab, we could always tell who was drying in boxes or grocery bags. The buds would have ~1740ppm Boron.

Not that it ever helped bust any of you drug criminals. No we still needed Icmag for that.
