Worm bin concepts

I'm rescinding my approval of the smart pots, or at least the brand I got called "dirt pots". The smaller worms have been managing to wiggle their way through the bottom of the pot(I have no clue how, but there were a bunch), and I've found way too many dead or dying caught on the side of the pot by some hooked strand of material. I'm gonna work something else out.

I can see how if one had major quantities of worms in a really large smart pot that would be the way to go! It doesnt hold excessive moisture, has adequate aeration, just add food, set it and forget it. If a few get caught in the sides, oh well there'll be more. But im still working my worms up to numbers to make that method practical. Not only that. But i can only locally source smart pots up to 5 gallon pots. Which really isnt that large really...

Get the SmartPots brand......

I saw that suggestion further up and was wondering. Local garden center sells a different brand, but seems exactly the same. Five gallon containers are like $3.

They're all made from post-consumer plastics. For this use any brand is fine.

It was your advice that led me to using the off-brand.
