Woman giving out $100 bills in Denver

I just got a call from my mother with this crazy story.

This morning she was out picking up some last minute items for christmas dinner tomorrow. A woman walked up and said "Hello, my husband and I are new to the Denver area and life has been very fortunate to us, I would like you to have this and gave her a $100 dollar bill.

She walked around the store giving them to everyone there and left without making a purchase. :yoinks:

Merry Christmas everyone

Wow. Now if only bill gates were that grateful. He could easily give every 100,000 and still be rich.

Ummm...are you really not aware that Bill Gates is giving away all of his (and Warren Buffet's) money? Or is it that you're mad that he's not handing out cash to random people on the street? Anyway, now the Gates bashers have no choice but to start complaining that he's not giving his money to those they'd choose if they weren't pikers.

Gosh, yesterday I heard some anus on the radio complaining that the Walton family has given away only $2 billion. Something about % of net worth. It is amusing how people have no problem spending other people's money. I wonder how much of his personal net worth that radio guy has given away, and how many billions it amounted to.

Just making an example. Perhaps I shoudve said the Bush family ehh? Anyways its glad to see someone is grateful for what they have.

Bill Gates gives ALOT of money away

Where the Money Goes

$1 billion over 20 years to establish the Gates Millennium Scholarship Program, which will support promising minority students through college and some kinds of graduate school.
$750 million over five years to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, which includes the World Health Organization, the Rockefeller Foundation, Unicef, pharmaceutical companies and the World Bank.
$350 million over three years to teachers, administrators, school districts and schools to improve America’s K-12 education, starting in Washington State.
$200 million to the Gates Library Program, which is wiring public libraries in America’s poorest communities in an effort to close the “digital divide.”
$100 million to the Gates Children’s Vaccine Program, which will accelerate delivery of lifesaving vaccines to children in the poorest countries of the world.
$50 million to the Maternal Mortality Reduction Program, run by the Columbia University School of Public Health.
$50 million to the Malaria Vaccine Initiative, to conduct research on promising candidates for a malaria vaccine.
$50 million to an international group called the Alliance for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer.
$50 million to a fund for global polio eradication, led by the World Health Organization, Unicef, Rotary International and the U.N. Foundation.
$40 million to the International Vaccine Institute, a research program based in Seoul, South Korea.
$28 million to Unicef for the elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus.
$25 million to the Sequella Global Tuberculosis Foundation.
$25 million to the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, which is creating coalitions of research scientists, pharmaceutical companies and governments in developing countries to look for a safe, effective, widely accessible vaccine against AIDS.

For an insanely rich guy Bill Gates is a pretty down to earth person. I read in an interview once that he only plans to give a couple million (I know, only a couple million, how humble) to his kids when he dies.

That's quite a list. I'd love to be a philanthropist when I grow up ;-)

We had a very nice experience driving through town tonight to show our son the christmas lights. The local fire dept was pulling out of the station with 2 or three trucks. Each one had a "Fill-In" Santa. They were taking all of the toys for toys for tots out and about town and the surrounding area. Lights and all - HUGE spectacle for a little podunk village. Enough to choke you right up! I'm proud to call this place (sands of time) home. Makes you really understand what christmas is about.

Happy holidays to all and please be safe.

Spaced...

PS - Bill Gates is the man - Like 95% of his money is set for charities when he's dead. His kids get the other 5%. Still fun to pick on though. Rich people make great targets. Especially douche bag oil fuckers like bush. We don't wanna go there tonight!

Funny, why go someplace where its obvious people have money to begin with? Where'd they go next? Bloomingdales? Saks?

Funny you say that... People try to be helpful and giving during the holidays and people bash them. There are plenty of people that are not well off in Denver. There are also plenty of people who are but I would say a good portion of the people there do not. Maybe compared to the rest of the world they are not impoverished... but whatever. Not that I live there or anything.
