Window AC question

Can anybody figure out if that unit has an automatic timer on it that will turn it on and off everyday at a certain time?

I just bought one that had a one time only timer which is useless. I connected it to an intermatic timer and for some reason it doesn't always turn on when the timer trips. The ac has one of those new plugs with a reset and a test on it.

I do not think it has the timer you are wanting.

the problem lays with digital controls. Once power is cut off to the unit, you usually have to turn it back on via the power button. We had one of these and had the same issue. Its like your TV, turn it on, then unplug it for a few minutes and plug it back in. I bet it wont come on.

You need an AC with mechanical controls which may be hard to find. Or get creative and rig the controls??

It would be interesting to see what others have to say

I can't seem to find a window shaker anywhere with a timer in Canada, any ideas?
I think the problem is the plug, its one that has a test and reset on it. Sometimes it works with the intermatic timer and sometimes it doesn't turn on for some reason and I have to hit reset.

Don't know, but I do know you can find digitals that will turn back on after a power outage, because mine does. It's a Frigidaire Energy Star, 8000 BTU.

I just bought a LG unit from Home Depot. Its the 24k BTU unit w/o heat and cost me $399. I have not hooked it up but according to the manual, it can be programmed to maintain a certain temperature. So there would be no need to keep it on a seperate timer. Set it and forget it. In the manual it also states that if it looses power, it will resume its last mode of operation when power is restored.

The 24k BTU may be bigger than what you are looking for but maybe the smaller LG's have this feature as well. check their web site for manuals. then you can pick one up at home depot. they have those in canada dont they?

you get a light timer and plug a DIAL a/c into that that is the way to do it so if you lose power it is still gonna work... when you get power back

You could always butcher the cord and add your own standard male plug if you think thats the problem. Not advocating this cuz I have no clue if thats actually the real issue.

My AC has one of those reset buttons on the cord. I've never experienced a power outage, but I've flipped the dedicated AC breaker on and off and the AC turns back on and remembers the setting that it was on before. I have a Fedders 18000BTU AC.

Why not just BUY a timer for the AC unit instead of trying to buy an AC unit with a timer. Mechanical are the most reliable anyway
this would be easiest for you.
