Will this cut down on sound?

I found a $50 bill stuck in the bushes at home depot... you know what that means... A small upgrade for my grow room! :woohoo:

The 1 upgrade I really need is to cut down on sound, but I can't hinder any airflow...
I saw that they had insulation on sale at home depot...

If I was to wrap the ducting from my exhaust in insulation and tape it on, would it cut down noticeably on my exhaust noise? I don't really want to put a full sized muffler on though because I think someone may notice it...

Just brain storming a little, let's hear some oppinions please! :chin:

would the 50.00 be better spent on a quieter fan ?
i dont know how long your run of exhaust ducting is, but if you could maybe try a test wrap with blankets, pillows, sweaters, etc., and if that makes a noticeable improvement, then the purchase of insulation could well be worthwhile .

I have the most quiet vortex they make and I doubt I can get another model that moves as much air for $50!

My exhaust ducting is 2 - 2 1/2 feet with one slight bend in it.

Why not just get some insulated ducting for $20 from them? Use it on both sides of the fan and it will quiet the fan considerably vs. standard foil ducting...

All of my ducting is the insulated type and definately makes a huge difference. The Krylon plastic paint does not work on it just for everyones information. I had to run aluminum ducting inside the room because the damn paint flaked off and some contaminated my ladies hair doos........ Always test Krylon paint on the plastic before overdoing it. LOL

Peace
