I have this house where theres a grow room in the basement.. just 1 room... Its not completley sealed of and airtight... if i have the unit in there will there be a smell upstairs from the grow still ? , Because I heard it Just masks the scent, doesn't actually clean the air and neutralize...

Hiya gertrude
My setup is similar. Basement with veg and flower areas, not airtight. Works great for me. I just have to remember to order replacement cannisters every few months. IME it's been completely set it and forget it. The only time there's noticeable smell is harvest day when I forget to bump up the dial on the Vaportek.

It doesn't just mask the smells, it neutralizes them. 2  from me.

Happy shopping!

i use it , i dont agree , it does mask smell, not clean it, and filter only lasts 1 grow ... im going to get rvk fan and carbon filter as i have the money

can someone clarify? i was under the impression it destroyed the odors instead of masking them. if not, ill probably get an ozone generator. if it masks the odor theres still stuff in the air for a dog to pick up. ozone seems more readily available and you dont need to replace filters. maybe do a vaportek and a ozone? i plan on using carbon with a vaportek or ozone, should be bullet proof.

NO ... it only MASKS smell , go for a carbon air filter , much better .

I would place it outside of the room and not directly in the room.

who cares if it masks or neutrilizes as long as it works...I love my Optimum 4000. I have tried using just a carbon scrubber alone, and I have tried using the vaportek alone, neither was completely effective. Together...they provide stellar odor protection.

Chose who you take your advice from wisely...afterall, odor control is the most important part.

Cobo if you are getting a perfumy smell, you have to turn your unit down.It certainly doesnt mask the smell with a perfumy odor,it totally netralizes the smell altogether.I had mine set on 3 in an 8 by 8 room fullo flowering plants,it was too strong.I set it on 1 and its perfect,no perfumy smell no nothing. If its made to cover the odor of death you can bet it works greaty on erb when used correctly

Ok well Im sold !.. LOL...I sent a couple emails online, got a local distributor number here in Alberta (carpet service company). Buddy couldn't find any in stock of the 4000, but after talking to head office they said they should have them, so Im getting a call back from them today to see if they have them... The place is pretty close to my house too, So I hope it works out well...

i got one...works great.....if you want to be really smart and safe still get a fan and a scrubber though....u can't go to far when it's odor protection.....that being said i don't have a fan or scrubber hooked up right now and have a closet full of skunk....i have the vaportek outside in the living room....with the closet door open and the door open to the room i occasionly get whiffs of dank.....but if anyone is coming over i have the closet shut and the main door with no problems whatsoever...i keep mine on 2-3.

lol if a dog is already on your property or in your house i'd probably bet your already screwed anyway.
