Will MJ ever be fully legalized? Is there a solution?

Since the corporate machine governs every aspect of our lives in todays world, the chances of MJ becomming legal are pretty slim. Officials in todays governments are as corrupt as they have ever been taking bribes in the form of employment packages and stock options.

What most people dont understand is that MJ is not illegal because of its mind altering effects but because of the hemp fibre it contains.

Using this fact i think i have found a solution.

The way that most people are trying to legalize MJ is by trying to push the argument that it is less toxic then other substances and advocating the use of MJ as a drug and form of mind expansion but in most cases escapism. Putting it into the catagory of a narcotic.

Though of course Medical MJ is a valid reason in itself why MJ should be legal. But we have to remember that it will never really make MJ legal in the way that it should be. A person should be able to Grow, Possess, Consume without any fear or reprocusions.

Now im not going to explain the benefits of Hemp because you guys can research this shit yourself. But all I have to say is that Hemp as a textile and renewable resource blows every othe textile out of the water.

If legalized and accepted by todays society and government Hemp would create copious amounts of jobs, benefit people, the environment and the economy. And nevertheless show the average Joe how harmless the plant really is.

If Hemp would become a major textile then the legalization of MJ would soon follow. For MJ to become legal the agenda of organizations such as NORML should shift to advocating the use of Hemp legally.

This is truely the only way the United States would legalize MJ.

Oh and remember teach your kids they are truely the future, not the old farts that line the walls of our goverment today.

Share your opinion... do you think it will become legal in our lifetime?

Hemp is already farmed in the UK and I think many many other places - you can become a hemp farmer but you need a licence from the Govt.

You know what I think would get MJ legalized? It's if China and India legalized it and grew hemp and medical MJ for export and domestic use.

The USA would say - hang on, you're making a ton of cash and selling your products to clinics and patients in America and Canada - that's not fair!

It's the only way I can think of getting it done.

Mexico was recently going to legalize drugs, but the US put them in a headlock until Vicente Fox said uncle.

Cannabis has been legal for approximately 10 000 years, and has been outlawed by certain governments for less than a century.

We're just passing through a bad period.

Hemp being legal doesn't help marijuana users - hemp doesn't have the required concentrations of THC.

And yes, there are quite a few states and congressional bills so that farmer's could grow non-psychoactive hemp.

Hemp /= marijuana.

Ok.
BUT HEMP is not LEGAL
There are only a handful of Hemp Growers in North America.
You as a citizen cannot plant hemp in your backyard or you will be arrested.
How do you know it wont help MJ users in the long run? Its the same plant without some of the 'harmful' chemicals. So wouldnt it clarify the image of MJ as being just a plant with economic benefits other then just being an illicit narcotic? This is what im trying to get at...

Thing is, they're already trying to make hemp legal, and doing so by making a point of it's separation from MJ.

Legalization of hemp is only going to help MJ by giving a place for guerrilla growers to blend in better :D Which, of course, is why the DEA opposes the legalization of hemp.

Yeah, I don't know about you guys, but I'm not real keen on living next to a 500 acre hemp farm. Something about pounds of pollen getting into my house and indoor grow kinda sucks, maybe. Sure won't get many "lucky crosses" from industrial hemp.

People just need to be made aware, on a large scale (like nationwide TV) that all of the laws against this plant were made for one purpose, and it wasn't keeping us safe from rampaging stoned Mexicans. Only when the average person accepts this knowledge will we be on the path to total legalization. And you can count on the gubment here in the USA to do everything in their power, both illegal and immoral to keep this information subdued. That's why they keep it as Schedule I, so you can't even argue it in court.
