Will 400w reach the ends of my growspace?

I'm drawing up plans for my new grow cab, and I have some questions. My floor space in this cabinet is 47" by 19" and I plan on getting a 400w HPS light with a 6" cool tube. I plan on having two rows of 4 plants, for 8 plants total. So I have 50w per plant, but a little less wattage per foot.

What I'm worried about is the 2 ends of the floor not getting enough light. Using a rectangular reflector is out, I need my hood aircooled or temps will be completely unmanageable, but I know the cool tube is going to be inefficient for rectangle shaped lighting. Should I supplement the ends by throwing a 2' floro tube on each end vertically? Or is that going to be a waste with the 400w?

One Other thing that might be worth knowing, the cab is a perpetual grow, so the plants closest to harvest will be in the middle directly under the light, while new pants from the veg box will be on the outside edges.

Any input is appreciated. I've always just rushed headlong in to grows, this time I'm making a plan and sticking to it. I have a lot tO iron out but things are coming together :)

Wow, I'm used to things getting quiet after I post online, but this time a whole sub-forum went silent for hours ha ha.

I just wanted to say that 41-11 does not equal 24, I forgot to mention that I also subtracted distance to safely keep plants away from the lights (6"). From the top of the pot to the bottom of the cool tube is 30 inches.

Height is an issue. Looking at 30inches but you forgot 12inches from light to plant for 18inch of total plant growth....ouch. 5 inch pots doesn't leave you much for dirt either. A 3x3 cab would be much better.

Your space is just gonna be a pain in the ass...leaving absolutely no room for error.

height can be fixed by doing rough lst'ing. make sure get a cool-tube with a bad ass inline/exhaust fans if not.. you'll be cooking plants :), good luck mate.

I've grown plants in shorter spaces ;) I know how short I can make a plant. LST is half the fun:dance013:

This is my fourth grow cab and so far it's the biggest out of all of them. I will have a cool tube over the light, and I will have a 6" inline fan on the exhaust pulling from the light and pushing out the filter.

When I say pots, I'm referring to net pots. The reservoirs are 3.5 gallons each. Soil would have taken up to much room for the amount of plants I want in here.

So... The floro tubes, necessary, unnecessary?
