Let me step in here. Please listen, this has happened to me several times in coco and I could not figure it out.I lost alot of seedlings! When starting seeds in coco you have to "charge" the coco with nutrients, especially calcium and magnesium. It becomes even more of a problem if your using RO or distilled water. When you get the coco, it has no nutrients what so ever. The fist nutrients you water the coco with is absorbed into the coco and locked until it is "charged".This is what you need to do, water your seedlings with full strength veg nutes, preferably with Cal-Mag.Sorry if this sounds confusing, but trust me, that is why your seedlings are dying....
Love how your opinion and what worked for you is the end all.. Maybe you should be moderator or even admin.. the point of this site, is that WHAT WORKS FOR ONE DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK FOR THE REST.. just because it worked for you doesn;t mean it's the end all solution for his problem... I am going to agree with 10k.. No need to over fert seedlings, period.. Verdant hit the nail on the head..
My first thoughts when you mention they get tall and fall over was not enough light.
But now, when you say they become very thin and cringe and die, I have to ask you...
Are they just falling over at the base of the stem and getting kind of soft mushy and dark around base of the stems?
ie: "damping off"
yes man!Just like you said.Soft mushy and dark around base of the stems
