Why is this plant so slow?

Hey guys I am reletively new to gardening, need your varied opinions as to why this strain is the slowest plant I have ever seen! I was thinking that maybe some just like hydroponics, it shouldn't be a pH issue in compost. Grown under 400w sylvania grolux bulb and it is 5 weeks from seed.

looks defficient to me. (or is the lighting discolouring the leaves in the pic?)
also, are u overwatering? can you describe how you have grown it till now? water, nutes, more details about the compost ect.

I'll go ahead and jump in and say it's over-watered, it has wet-feet, and the medium is too heavy, not loose enough and aerated.

thanks bombadil, i ran out of perlite but my others are not suffering like this... stopped watering yesterday and now it looks worse!
yes exploziv, the leaves are not as green as they could be. I am using 'EC FERTILISER - Compound NPK' some powdered white stuff with 13% nitrogen. Very cheap I know, will look into high-end products as I progress.
The thing that bothers me though is the slow growth. Like its struggling just to get by, I would expect this type of behavoir from an LED setup but not the 420W digital ballast that I am firing up!!!

well, overwatering prevents normal nutrient intake. so it should get better after you let the soil dry a bit. if it's not too late..

people need to stop watering plants Every DAY. ur over loving ur plants.. keep it simple.. a Good Soil .. and PH ur Water. and transplant ur plants when there ready. then u shouoldnt have this problem.

I till the top of the soil sometimes if it gets a little soggy. I use a fork or something, not too deep just the surface. It wont dry it up too fast but will help a little.

Hi there,

One thing that usually works for me is to feel the weight of the pot, when it becomes light it means it has llittle or no water in the soil. So when in doubt I hold the pot to feel it'e weight and then I know if it is time to water them or not.

Your pic is also showing nute lock-up which is what Exploziv pointed out . Next time you water use some Magnesium Sulphate (Epsom salts) then forget feed for a week & see if the plant improves .

BG is right about the amount of water a plant needs , too much & you wash the nutes away & prevent Oxygen being absorbed . Stick finger in compost an Inch if a 10lt pot to find how damp soil is , when the damp drops below that , water .
After all it`s the roots that take up water & all roots are at the bottom .

what temperature are you growing in? Too high or too low temps will slow growth considerably
