If your so wise and refuse to accept any suggestion I would wonder why you ask?
After all the best we can do is guess at probables.

I just have a question, what strain??

Also 30 clones can smell pretty strong.

Where does your exhaust go to?

I bought a 3,000 sq. foot new ozone generator on ebay for 150.00.only run it in the main living room when im out of the house.make sure it off two hours before your around.i only use it at havest time.

having a separate 8 inch s&p td silent and filter just cleaning air in room should help.

I wish it were that simple.

I lit a large stake on fire and put it under the holes in the ceiling - the flame retreated towards me proving that there is definitely negative pressure.

As for the door - it open in, so if there is negative pressure it would open wider, not close shut.

I switched the fan to 700M3/h so there is no way it's too powerful for the 800 M3/h filter.

I calculated that I need a 600 M3/h filter. 30 M3/h x 20 = 600 M3/h.

I bought an 800 M3/h filter, so it can't be that.

Well, I have like 30 cuttings cloning in the living room, but there is no smell from them.

I don't see how the smell is escaping when there is plenty of negative pressure in the room, via the flame test.

Ona gel isn't a long-term solution. It's going to be hella expensive to run for a year.

I don't want to get an ozone generator because it's not healthy.

I only grow in about 1/3 of the room I have, so there is no way there are too many plants.

Ona's are too expensive ?

I dont want an ozone generator because its unhealthy ?

Dude you just spent 1000 bucks on a filter/canfan setup that doesnt work and your saying ona's are expensive  im sorry bro im usually not an a-hole but come on those are all solid options that will help.

thats too expensive ? Then get the generic ass kinds if you want to be a cheapo... when did people start to think that this is a cheap hobby ?

I have a couple of onas and i change them out every couple of months they last a good amount and with a little fan blowing on it that shit smells great.

Heres some new options that might be less expensive:

1)stop growing
2) get a new gf
3) move to the middle of no where (guerrilla style)

Are you sleeping in your grow room if not then heres some info if you really want to get specific on ozone generators and health issues. Buy a ozone generator where you can control the output to set it correctly for your room size and with adequate air movement youll be fine:

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires ozone output of indoor medical devices to be no more than 0.05 ppm.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that workers not be exposed to an average concentration of more than 0.10 ppm for 8 hours.

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) recommends an upper limit of 0.10 ppm, not to be exceeded at any time.

EPA’s National Ambient Air Quality Standard for ozone is a maximum 8 hour average outdoor concentration of 0.08 ppm (see - the Clean Air Act - www.epa.gov/air/caa/title1.html#ib)

I work in the med field so lets not try the its not good for me line....Hate it.... you have to know all the conditions....neither is smoking bro ahaha but we do it anyway that opens up your respiratory system too.

unless your in your grow room sleeping in it your good...go onas if your still tripping balls

I know I came off as a douche but this is ridiculous like potty1 said above seems like all of our answers suck

:tiphat:

good luck

Gotta be your filter. New or not

Except that:

1.) There is no smell coming from the fan while attached to the filter, meaning the filter must be working.

2.) There is literally no difference between having the filter and not having it. If the filter wasn't working, the fan would be blowing all that smelly air without filtering it and it would smell far worse.

If your so wise and refuse to accept any suggestion I would wonder why you ask?
After all the best we can do is guess at probables.

What suggestions? I have a brand new filter/fan combo and I'm being told to buy something else.

I just have a question, what strain??

It's not 30 clones, it's 30 cuttings. They don't smell, I've checked.

Dude you just spent 1000 bucks on a filter/canfan setup that doesnt work and your saying ona's are expensive

I spent $700 on a fan that will last me years and $300 on a filter that will last me 18 months.

Now on top of that you want me to buy some gel that lasts for 2 months tops and costs at least $100?

thats too expensive ? Then get the generic ass kinds if you want to be a cheapo... when did people start to think that this is a cheap hobby ?

Compared to what you get for it, yes it's expensive.

How a I cheap? I just spent $1,000 on the best name brand fan/filter because EVERYONE told me that would work (and has in the past).

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires ozone output of indoor medical devices to be no more than 0.05 ppm.

I'm not getting an ozone generator when a simple drum of carbon can fix all my problems.

The health reasons are secondary.

Heres some new options that might be less expensive:

1)stop growing
2) get a new gf
3) move to the middle of no where (guerrilla style)

Well, of course your answers suck.

You're sitting there high as a kite telling me to dump my girlfriend in order to fix my odor problem..

And then you claim that you realize that you're being a douchebag, as if that somehow makes up for it.

Here, why don't I go ahead and kill your girlfriend and then say "I know I come off as a murderer but.."

The problem here is that when you spend $1,000 to fix a problem and it's not fixed - you find out why! You don't go off and spend another $1,000.

Guess the only answer is it sucks to be you... lol... just joking around.... only answer is move I think...

Heres my gut feeling. You said u didnt use a filter before and the place reeked. So neighbours know whos growing pot. Anyway if I was you neighbour and got winf of that d do my 9wn grow and blame the smell on you...

ozone dissipates real quick and with a bit of testing you can get and keep the levels safe...hell my old gym had one even..they make ones for your car even lol ..if you use ozone inside get a test kit or better get one for exhaust

No, I said I didn't use a filter before and the smell was the same.

But yeah, once in a while the smell is strong so if anyone knew what marijuana smells like, they'd know that someone here was using it.

Good thing is, no one here is an asshole. But, of course.. better to be safe than sorry.

I don't know.. I suppose it is a good point that I only spend about 15 minutes a day in my grow room.

It just seems silly to buy an ozone generator when a carbon filter will do the job just fine.

Not to mention that I already purchased the carbon filter and fan, so it makes no difference at this point if an ozone generator is better or not.

I wish they had a marijuana odor detector. That way I could use it like a geigar counter and find the source of the smell ASAP.

Dude if you have negative pressure and you're certain the exhaust from your filter doesn't smell then the only option left is one of your neighbors is growing. I don't see any other possibility.

Ozone should be used in a scrub box to give the air time to be treated before being sent through the carbon filter to rid ozone and cannabis odor that's left. Maybe I'm missing something but it sounds like you don't have a lot of negative pressure. What I would consider good negative pressure would be having the only entrance like a door close strongly when the room is entered. It seems like it would be a 20 -30% difference between intake and exhaust. It might be less. That way you know the air leaving gets treated. It sounds like you have multiple holes in the ceiling which would difficult to determine air flow. If all your walls and ceiling were sealed with plastic sheeting or caulk or whatever you could achieve a good negative pressure. High humidity will make a carbon filter not work as well

This is a interesting thread. Odor issues can be extremely frustrating and scary.

A lot of the suggestions in this thread are accurate. There really are not going to be more/different answers for you OP, sorry.

Few questions,

Is your fan mounted directly to the filter. (pulling air through it)?
Meaning you are pulling through your filter and pushing through any other associated ducting or components.

Has the filter been exposed to high humidity or are you currently experiencing high humidity?

That's really it. If you maintain negative pressure in your flower room AND positive pressure everywhere else post filter/fan combo... then there is no reason you should have odor..

unless your filter is defective (has absorbed too much moisture)

your filter is a shitty brand or model. (Original Can-Filter is the only thing I really trust)..screw the lite models and other fly by night competitors. Carbon type, density, etc.. this stuff matters.

you're pulling air across the carbon too quickly.

you're growing such dank that it mocks carbon scrubbers. In this case you either gotta move somewhere remote or try to grow strains with less odor.

you've got some other mysterious issue going on....

If you are 100% certain the above is not the case.. then I'd suggest adding a Vaportek Optimum 4000 with neutral 90-120 cart. These things are powerful neutralizers (not ozone) and really do work. I recommend it in addition to carbon filtration, but others have used them alone.

^these are sold in the janitorial industry. You might be able to just rig a small computer fan on the cart and save some money as the "machine" doesn't look to be more then that. The oils that make up the cartridge though is pretty powerful stuff.

*or add a $125 ozone generator. I realize you don't want to spend more money, but it might be best. It never hurts to have multiple layers of odor control... for reasons as you are experiencing now. It'll hopefully make you safe again and put your girlfriend at ease. Odor issues are bad news.

My house is impervious to negative air pressure

My house is impervious to negative air pressure

Okay, so I brought back my Can-Lite 800 filter and got a brand new one, just for the sake of finding out whether it's the filter being defective or not.

Apparently, it's not.

I have a Max Filter 1000 now and there is still smells. In fact, it's more than before.

You see, I set the fan to the highest settings (880 M3/h) and it started making a whining noise because there wasn't enough air coming into the room, forcing it to suck the air from small holes in the ceiling.

I put hand under these holes and it's like a vacuum, i.e. a ridiculous amount of negative pressure.

So, I decided to open up a medium sized opening to the rest of the house (about the size of a 5" duct), and now I find out that it smells in the rest of the house!

Meaning that wherever the air is COMING from, wherever there is NEGATIVE pressure, there is also positive pressure because my house is impervious to the laws of physics.

So, what does this mean and what do I do?

I could seal up every hole, but then what? I don't have a fan that can deliver 700 M3/h of intake, so the intake has to remain passive. But passive intake means that air comes out of the holes it's supposed to be going into!

No idea how to fix this..

Where are you exhausting your smelling air to? Out a window? Into the attic? Into a sewer vent? You really need to give us as many details as possible if you want help. You can't just say that your house doesn't follow the laws of physics. That's not going to elicit any help from anyone, I promise. Might as well start a thread called "I fell up, and I'm stuck on the ceiling, how do I get down?"

Give us any and all details.
