I am beginning to grow this way. I dislike the chic name given to it.........sounds like some self centered kids came up with the name but i reuse my soil and use some of the same types of things in the mix.
I have been reading the old threads on rols and it looks like to me that they......gascanastan and clackmass cootz were promoting a new seed company and found a chic name and some other growers to test out untested strains that gascan fellow has. and when one got banned the others followed. how does that reflect on the site? cause they banned someone for violating a set of rules? hmmmmmm and since a couple of old members grew this was it is not cool for anyone else? did they invent growing organic cannabis or something? I doubt it since there were organic growers on OG and i never seen their names there. This is some weird shit to be sure. Sounds to me like the story has been bent around to make people feel sorry for some assholes who broke the rules and got banned by the site owners.

Haha. I got my share of spankings as a kid, but I still turned out just fine. 
I think the biggest reason there aren't more people growing ROLS (or whatever you choose to call it) is that they still frequent hydro shops. The salesmen are good! They know how to convince you what you "need".
That and the fact that the graphics on a box of crab meal or fish bone aren't very interesting... And the label says nothing about mega ginormous yields...

I got everything I needed,and didn't set foot in one of those stores.Now that my state is medical,I can pretty much get anything now and I don't have to go to Ca to get it.Nothing like the local nursery and local organic folks as well.

Were you around when the razor strap was popular with the parents? I hated that thing. My box of fish bone meal has just a sticker on it. Nothing special and no graphics.

I was a ALS member, so are ALL but I think one mod for this sub-forum, till it was magically deleted by the powers that be.
as for testing strains, I ran what I found interesting that I was gifted, in PRIVATE, such as rare BOEL genetics from the greater days. breeding projects were in the making before the ALS group was thought up

these guys got a bad rep for not playing nice when it comes to discussing specific topics & leaving after loosing trust here.
many don't know but ALS was started by a member asked to leave the OFC, as the drama with those powers that be again, was leaving a sour taste in the group.
ROLS pretty much was a specific continued open shared discussion, regarding rehashed information from private conversation & collaborations from such groups like OFC & ALS.
mentors, gurus, newbs and mods all joined in;some hated it but from soo many re-makes, its safe to say a few liked it
as for photo's
first it takes time to upload, not many care to show off or prefer to live a little more private lives (this is the internet)
second people are picky on who they choose to learn from, doesn't matter if you got fancy images imo.
plenty of growers come here with kick ass grows but don't get the discussions like some do, specially with as much detailed dedicated information or with as many "organic" respected members contributing.
IMO grow shows don't generate that kind of energy
plus the members I personally learned from on IC, the most & I think influenced us all as a whole
were guys who didn't show much images at all, let alone in private groups or PM's. jaykush, mr fista, clack, ctguy, mm & so on
since many are members of other sites and the time it takes to share/ upload, I think a few understandably are choosy of who or how much they trust with that image/info sharing responsibility .

If those guys checked their "intolerant" attitudes a bit more (acceptance of new ideas) then more information would have flowed from diverse practices...just saying. I butted heads with those boys a few times...and it reminded of having a sand fight in a kindergarten sandbox--without teachers blowing their silver whistles.

many of these "intolerant attitudes" are the results of not only answering the same questions over and over again but also from seeing new people sign up & start doling out the same old "advice" that so many picked up from reading the miscellaneous info sources & it takes about 2 posts to spot the guy who parrots mis-info he picked up @ the gro-store {NTM the guys who are pimp'n gro-store formula}

the whole sea solids consideration is basically a derail in the recycled soil paradigm; if you are having success w/ it, carry on but; it probably has a lot to do w/ throwing away your soil
~i bolded "if you are having success...." because that is what truly matters to each individual as a grower/producer however, it remains true that you are using a different method & that is the gyst of why stan expected to exclude you from that conversation {its not "on topic"}
