why is it plants take so long to flower in the uk?

this big-big bud plant has been flowering for about a month now and the buds are still so small, its quite annoying coz i got this bud for quantity. :(

and the 2 small ak48s were supposed to be early flowering, they only started flowering about a week ago. im starting to doubt the nirvana genetics.

the rest are big bud cuttings...still taking a loooong time.

You get what you pay for I spose :chin:

I opted for Nirvana once and only had one germ out of 10 seeds, and she turned into one of the weirdest plants I've ever seen.

May be the seeds, but it may also be the outdoors. Had a mostly(75%) sativa plant that took forever to finish(i know..sativas usually do), but this took around 4 months of flower. May also be the amount of light it's getting.

Could be any number of things.
Could still have over 4 weeks of flowering left.
Could have not had enough veg time to produce big enough roots, stalk etc.
Could be the size of the pot.
Could be the genetics(can't win them all, you may have a mentally retarded child one day .)
Could be the you patience that needs to extend.
Could be the music, fertilizer, soil etc....

Or you could be like Milli Vanilli and blame it on the rain, but I'd wait until it's harvest time before I complained about how big the buds were.

Good luck and hope the swells come in soon.

When did you start your grow off.
I am a first time canna grower. Although I have been a gardener for over 30 years (I am old) and I have had absolutely excellent results from my nirvana afgan and bubbleicious.
I had 100 % germ too.
My plants DO look strange..as I have a height restriction and had to try different training methods but I have had over 190 g's dry weight bud off my afgan and she isn't finished yet.
They didn't even have much ferts..except once they started to flower.
Your pot size looks spot on..mine look similar size..so it looks as if it could be timing..or the season that you have had.

Sorry SuperZero..I thought they looked as if they are in a builders bucket..10 ltr. That and 20lts were what I used on mine.

it looks like a late start to me... maybe you should have planted those babes earlier in the season...
nirvana genethics are midgrade but they have the worst seeds due to shitty storeing.
they also dont really care about stabilyze their hybrids.

how can it be due to a late start when it is about 5 foot and i have seen people growing indoors with much small plants and still have nice sized buds?

and i seriously doubt the pot is to small, it is huge and managed to finish flowering a plant 8 times bigger than the 5 footer?
and that was in exactly the same place so it cant be where the plants are kept either...

im going to just guess that it has bad genetics, im never using nirvana again.

its not the same thing outdoors man.. if a plant is mature when the light cicle shorts up it takes less time to start building up for serious buds.. but if its a late start they make it later cause they keep growing roots and stuff..
genethics have the other half of the faul IMO..

seeing as it showed sex about 1 month before the flowers started generating i would have to disagree with you when it comes to the big one, because once they show pre-flowers it means they are mature enough to start flowering. but i 100% agree on the small plants because they were started way to late.

Those strains really aren't meant for outdoor cultivation in the UK, mate. We just passed 12/12 a little over a week ago. Your plants have quite a while to go. If you'd gone with Early Misty or something, you would've been well on your way already....those strains are good for me, but I'm in the tropics; It might well be 20-25 degrees C in December/Jan in this part of the world...the genetics aren't bad, they just aren't meant for your latitude.

i have grown both those strains and like all nirvana (in my experience) seeds their genetics are all over the place and maturation times vary a lot but both BB and AK48 finish fine in my part of the world and i don't see why they wouldn't in england (although low light levels due to crappy weather can slow stuff down), Early misty on the other hand has only finished a couple plants for me and i will not buy their strains again ever expecting consistant results. All that being said i have a couple clones that i have selected from their seed that have been doing well for me so if you set your sights low and hope for a couple of good girls you might end up happy with what you get.

yeh the nirvana ak48 genetics were all over the place, i had out of 3 seeds, 1 short fat male, and 2 tall lanky females. the weird thing is that 1 of the female buds is purple with green pistils and one of them is green with white pistils :S

but the big-buds were all pretty much the same genetics out of 3 females( 2 are in random fields )

i would imagine it would be due to the bad weather over here, lets hope theres some more sun.

It may not really be bigbud, i got some white widow from nirvana and had some pure sativa that took 14 weeks to finish.

any examples of strains?

because i got the ak48's because they said' fastest finishing white strain available' and yet the buds are smaller than the big-bud plant
