Who's been to Glacier National Park?

My girlfriend and I are planning to go there this summer and do some camping and hiking, probably about 7-10 days. I'd like to hear any advice, stories or anything else you've got on this majestic place. I've never really done any serious camping but have always wanted to so I'm really looking forward to this trip.

Beautiful - but careful of the bears.

They are really bad - one sniffed at my wifes head thru the tent, and scared the crap outta her.

The scenery is awesome...

keep all food just out of the camp site hung in the trees secured or the bears will get it bring bear mace they make it better then a firearm which i believe isnt allowed on the park grounds. call the forrest rangers there ask about the camping and if any dangers you will be in grizzly bear country so be carefull and you'll have a wonderful time

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will take tons of pictures, I just got a nice new canon dslr and I'll certainly bring plenty of bud, what good is a road trip without it? Bears are the thing that scares my lady the most about this trip but I certainly planned on being prepared (bear mace for sure and I'll look into the gun thing).

I kind of wish I would have titled the thread differently because now I'm curious on what kind of supplies you'd recommend for a camper, not the obvious like a tent and a sleeping bag, but those other supplies that you didn't really think about 'till after you went camping a few times and now you feel you can't live without ________ (insert equipment here).

As far as our plans while there. We haven't set out any agendas yet but we want to camp in the same spot the whole time we're there. I know my girl wants some bathroom and shower access and then we'll drive to different parts of the park and do hiking, fishing, or something like that each day. Does this sound like a good plan? Am I missing out by not camping in different parts of the park or anything? Also, does anyone remember if the campsites were all packed in or do people have a decent amount of space between one another?

Regarding Yellowstone, I've never been there. I'll look into it and talk about it and see if we want to make that part of our plans. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks again for the responses, I look forward to any more input.
