Who makes the best flex ducting???

I've been using the Home Depot and Lowe's typical foil/plastic 6" flex ducting for too long, eventually cracks or tears, I'm ready for something better.

I see there are many "high end" flex ducting brands sold via hydro shops, but would love to hear some opinions before picking one...

What's top of the line? Anyone especially happy with any particular one?

Thanks!!!

Bump, is insulated ducting worth it over non insulated? I only need 6 feet of ducting hahaha and insulated seems better.

thermoflo makes some nice flex ducting tough as hell and lightproof also check out their elbow its a slick way to keep the flow up around 90% bends

Agreed, Thermoflo ducting is awesome. You only need to find a duct blown out once and compromised your security to realize its crazy worth the extra pennies.

Insulated ducting is typically just the cheap 1 layer duct with a fiberglass insulated outside part. Now the outside part I dig - keeps heat and noise in a little bit, but it needs to be removed from the crappy duct it comes with and placed over some proper duct like Thermoflo.

You can also buy lengths of the insulating wrap with the right diameter at Depot/Lowes/Menards and put it over better duct. I've gotten a heavier grade flex duct at the hydro shop (but nothing like that thermoflo that's nice) and put the wrap over it. Better than the pre-insulated stuff at the Depot.

I do like the insulation for sound damping and in my case the thermal properties actually helped a lot, carried extra heat out of the room.

Good info here, I also have good results with duct sold for wood shop dust collection.

Master Flow 8 in. x 25 ft. Insulated Flexible Duct R8 Silver Jacket
Master Flow 12 in. x 25 ft. Insulated Flexible Duct R8 Silver Jacket

They are sold at Home Depot as well. I like Thermoflo & C.A.P. stuff too (connectors, etc.).
