Has anyone grown Nirvana's White Widow and Dutch Passion's White Widow? Can someone try and explain any differences between these? Does on yeild more, is one more potent? Obviously the Dutch Passion version is much more costly.

Thanks for the advice. I see Greenhouse won the 8th cannabis cup with this strain. Has a low THC% compared to some of the newer winners. Is 12.0%
THC considered low?

I've grown dp ww 3 different times. 2 times from feminized and 1 time from standard. And everytime I grew it, it's always been the strongest smoke I've ever had. I've grown blueberry, hashberry, nl2, white russian, chronic, sc, ect...and it's never been a close running. I've had people tell me they've had estacy and acid not as strong!!! As a matter of fact, next week I"m gonna order a fem 5 pack of them.

If you want the real white widow, the one that won the cannabis cup you are talk about, you should get Mister Nice Seeds Black Widow: Shantibaba created the original WW and he is the only one with the right parents to produce seeds with... Greenhouse does not have those parents anymore, since Shanti left and sold the company.

You will not be dissapointed with the Greenhouse White Widow. It is the real thing. Excellent flavor, aroma, and effect.

I've grown Nirvana's White Widow, I concider it one of their better strains, well worth it's modest price. I wouldn't say that 12% THC is a low THC strain, it will still do what you want it to do, it just doesn't sound very impressive next to strains that touch the 20% mark. I wouldn't rely entirely on the chromatography–mass spectrometry stats some breeders post though, and the strongest weed isn't always the best. Still, you might want to go with the DP WW in that case, which is supposed to be 18.9% THC, and to me, DP is a quality mark.
As Gattorama said, Shantibaba is the breeder that created the strain, the others are simply making money on his back (copyright laws are really complicated in the seed biz). Black Widow's the one WW I would be proud to have in my garden in that sense, although even if it is the original, another breeder could still create a better WW through selective breeding.

That Greenhouse WW hansel says has an excellent aroma must be worked over, because a real WW doesn't really stand out in the smell department. Misty on the other hand (a WW sister) has a sweet candy aroma, and in my opinion a better balanced high. Just as strong as the WW, but more creative and less numbing.

Having said that, it seems that WW is a difficult strain to f**k up, since most offerings receive praise, even Nirvana's. Wouldn't give money to GH, but that's a personal thing.

But if you want the elite Widow, why go anywhere other than MNS?

White Widow can be very nutrient sensitive. Go very light on the nutes.

Shantibaba is a good guy, GH on the other hand, well everyone knows the story.. I would do the morally correct thing and buy from MNS, or if price is an issue, go with Nirvana. Just my $.02 though

Thanks for all the advice. I have a question about the MNS black widow, is this white widow crossed with another strain?

I'm going to go with the cheaper seeds so right now I'm just trying to decide between Greenhouse and Dutch Passion. Someone said Dutch Passion's is 18.9%, where was this information found? They are the same price so maybe I will go with the Dutch Passion if it has a higher THC % for the same cost for the same strain?

we have grown nirvana's widow (12% thc) along side serious's white russian (23% thc) and the consensis was that the widow was better weed..

i guess the point i am trying to make is that i am not sure if the thc numbers given by the breeders are always correct, or if there are other components in weed that makes good weed...

Black Widow is the original White Widow. Shantibaba changed the name of his genetics when "White Widow" became readily avaible on every street corner in Amsterdam, from various different breeders. Shanti doesn't have to cross his strain with another, he has the original parent stock that makes White Widow. Shanti's WW F1:s will probably grow with a bit more rage than the WWXWW that other breeders put out.

i dont mean to upset anyone here but i have a sensitive concern for many nirvana strains. i never choose nirvana seeds for sativa strains. it is my belief that nirvana uses skunk#1 to pollen sativa clones which is not that great to a veteran grower but on a side note, my uncle loves the skunk#1 sativa hybrids nirvana sells. if you grow 15 nirvana sativa strains, you will find many look similar. low diversity is not as fun as the real deal holyfield IMO.. lol.. gl!

my fav are ice princess (ww/c99) and pure ww clones i received which were said to be from Dutchpassion and whitelabel.

Has anybody grown out Aloha's WW? I was looking into adding it in a couple of years ago based on NCGA and others using it for their own projects. It was pretty expensive at the time compared to other strains at the time though.

I grew out WW from amsterdammarajuanaseeds.com and it was most impressive. Real low odor, great taste and killer high.

Any ideas on who's seeds these guys are selling?

The Nirvana White Widow was very strong, and very indica like in growth. Nirvana Jock Horror is still in my top three of all time for power. If you go for the super-expensive stuff, buy a couple of packs of Nirvana as well.

The Black Widow (recent purchase) stretches a LOT! It is still great smoke, but if he used the same parents, something changed. The breeder claims that there is an indica phonotype, but it must be rare. I got 9 females out of the 8 seeds I started, an unusally high ratio. All stretchy, like 90 days to finish.

Oh, 1 male of 6 out the the Sour Diesel IBL. She was good tho! Cost me about $150 for a half oz, unless I get another female.

You only get what you pay for if you buy into the hype. Which is cool!

The "Black Widow" you are talking about is the original White Widow from MNS correct? Did you prefer the Nirvana over the MNS?

Yes, Mr Nice Black Widow, bought last year from Seedbay.

The Nirvana was much more managable inside, but both are great smoke.

I don't keep perfect records, but 9/8 is the best female ratio I've ever gotten. There were two plants labels BW1 and two labeled BW6 as I recall. Confusing. Sour Bubble and Sour Diesel have been the worst at 2/9 and 1/6.

Lavender is my current fav, just because my #7 is such a fat stout indica. Otherwise, I'm overrun with Black Widow. I should try for a pic. The BW makes me want to reach for hedge trimmers sometimes.

The Widow is some of the best for listening to complex music, well worth it. A 50/50 indica/sativa that leaves (and buds) you relaxed, happy and creative. A keeper, just need to narrow it down from the 6 mothers to 1.
