I prefer to grow from clones, not the easiest way but better.

this year I plan to grow the strains what I know and love! some from seeds and some from clones.

hows thew ancient og for potency ? i,m making beans of them but i,m always working some crosses out of couple keepers i have atm . the benefits of some early flowering . tested and pollinate some side branches that were way behind .

i,m think of using the male i have well i have 2 of them , but there structure and vigour are great . but i won't get a crack at the potency of the girls by the time i need to pollinate .

good line up you got . be nice spread . i,d do more clones to if they were accessible .

looks like we turned your thread into a pm chat , sorry mate . better let other guys & girls have there say on water crystals and solutions hay . mine is just one opinion .sure theres other good ideas to be had

all good.

Once I used already the crystals around 2010. the plants was huge but dried out in september because I had no time to water them and it was a crazy hot September... 10 feet tall LA Confidential plants died... I took the dry crystals in the soil when I dig and mix it in Spring. The agro shops sold it in small packs (gave one pack per plant). As you said its a great thing but only when you dont "overdose" it. lol

The colleagues have already said everything. % of coconut in soil mix, water crystal for a little help^^

The color of the white jars for better one réflct of the light.

A good mulching also.

the aqua-tablecloth keeps more of 50 times her weight in water.

I thought has to make out a will has to put it between two coats of soil mix.

And to drill every tablecloth(3 minimum for smart-pot) by several holes, so that roots reach the various coats of soilmix.

Just a silly idea. I never have to make out a will but as it is never known! lolilol

No thoughts on water crystals as I have never used them. However, I have been experimenting with floor dry for a few years and in relatively small quantities it seems to work well for me. I use the brands that are made of DE (diatomaceous earth) the brand we have here is called OptiSorb.

Roughly the same shape and size as perlite, opposite effect as perlite is a 'closed cell' material (pushes water away). In containers, I have found that one part DE in replacement of one part of perlite does not affect the porosity all that much. One extra part of perlite may helps in keeping the same porosity too. It's not going to be an answer to all but it seems to help when the containers get really dry.

I use it in my outdoors beds too. In that case I make my own mixes from Peat - Perlite - DE. I find that in my outdoor beds, plants can do better and are more drought resistant when I add less perlite than I would for containers, like say 20% instead of 40% or so . For some reason my beds don't need as much porosity and the peat holds the water more so i went say 2- 3 part of perlite 1-2 part of DE and 6 or so parts of peat ( buffered with dolomitic lime) and it seems to work for me. BUT most of my beds are placed on wetter ground sort of like a swamp tube hybrid if you will.

I just felt that it may help some.

Good luck

had the same issue last year, planning to add either peat or vermiculite and mulch, in a 100L pot what % should be peat?

N

NewAgeGenetics

it can be even 100% peat... depend on the peat, the ferts what you use and the type of local "native" soil.

perlit NOT hold the water! it makes airy the soil.

For holes in ground we usually do 2 parts peat moss, 1 part perlite and 1 part compost with organic ferts.

Place we grow is kinda wet, so we never had to water the plants... If you using smart pots they will dry a lot quicker than in ground holes!

greensand, diatomaceious earth(silica source as well) and water crystals is my plan this year to help hold more moisture to each hole. if u dont have perlite or some other thing for oyxgen then ur roots will suffocate to death. i also am gonna try something a bit different this year then i have in all the years before. im gonna take a 2 inch round black plastic pipe and make it about 8-10 inchs long with holes drilled in it. im gonna insert the pipe right when i put my soil mix in the holes that way when i water my plants it will go staight to the roots instead of having to wick down. i think this will help alot with watering the ladys.

it reminds me the silverback's Gorrilla Water Collar, good idea Kygiacomo!!!

damn gizmo i had forgot about this. i think i will build mine like that now instead of just the pipe inserted into the media. that would be more efficent then my previous ideal. thanks for the post im gonna hit the stickys now and reread all silverback and backcountys posts on this stuff.

yeah i'll add my two bobs worth , i'm very dry here and i use native soil mainly ..i dig my hole , maybe 500ml deep and add a 20ltr bucket of made up crystals in the bottom and then back fill ..we just went through six an a half weeks without any rain ..none ! before crystals they would have died , now they survive ..
we get years like this maybe every third year and generally , before crystals , i'd get nothing from these spots , now its not great but can still pull maybe half pound per ..:tiphat: of course preperation is the key to it all ... get it all done at least a month or even more before your ready to plant ...cheers

hello

I heard that when 50% coco is mixed into the soil don't really need to water while the whole season?

is it true?

any other good idea?

I have a good place to grow but there is no available water there and I dont want to attent the spot too often.

thinking on a good soil mix what would hold the spring rain water for a long time.
ha ha ha ha ha ..thanks I needed a good laugh after the pats beating...yeehaw..not even polymer crystals last the whole watering season .....unless you get lots of rain or using swamp tubes ect ..your gonna need to do some watering
