Can I use any old 1000 watt HPS bulb or does it have to be a special kind? I'd like to be able to run the lamp at any of the respective dimmable settings - from 0 to 1000 watts.

I'm a dinosaur trying to learn about the new tech.

Yes, you can use that bulb as long as the wattage matches.

You cannot use any 1000W bulb. The bulb needs to be DE (double ended) 1000W.
