Where to smoke in Amsterdam?

I've been to the Dam 3 times...or was it 4?
Anyway, when I was there, the Grasshopper was the cafe to visit. You can ask to have them bring a bong over to your table but I hear it's now unhealthy/unsanitary.
Hash cafes were separated from the pot cafes, each with their separate menus.
What's weird is, on the plane I rode over the first time, I sat next to some Dutch and asked them what some "must-see" sites in the Dam were. They looked at each other with a blank look and shrugged their shoulders...Notta clue
Since then, I've been to the Marijuana Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Red Light District, and the Anna Frank Haus

I don't recommend their hostels for accomodation...you'll end up with some goof snoring in your ear all night...Ask the locals where the best price rooms are...if the price is right of course

Another weird thing is that Europeans mix tobacco with their hashish. The result is an incredibly harsh cigarette especially when a huge toke is taken. I coughed my brains out with their cheap raw tobacco blend. I finally asked a local why...He simply replied, "You smoke hash pure? I could never do that...Too powerful."

For this reason alone, if you want to socialize, I'd simply stick to pot...but it's your trip.

Budfather if your going with a few mates id recommend getting an apartment, cheaper than a hotel and a lot more freedom! il pm some links!

a lot are 2/3 days minimum stay my friend, makes sense for them to cater for the weekend/short trip visitor.

Try looking for 2 star hotels on a hotel site...the one on the smokers guide site has good ones...and look for a hotal well in advance. it is a nightmare to try and get a decent room in Amsterdam at a fair rate without a reservation. Expect to pay double at least if you dont settle this soon.

A room can be had, or was when I last went, for between 35 and 75 euros a night for a place to sleep and bathe..nothing fancy, but clean and safe. You can pay more and get better accomodations of course but I always spend very little time in the room so it is a minor matter if they have fancy crap..

also check out this web site it has good prices. all kind of different places to stay in a-dam, and It has been around for at least 7 years. I used it 7 years ago. it was good.

Bulldog and Grasshopper are probably the worst two places to go for a smoke. Hash cafes separated from pot cafes? Nope, they all sell both.

For great smoke in Amsterdam, you have to check out Noon coffeeshop, Barney's lounge, and Amnesia. Those are by far the top 3 in my book.

I'm sure the guy @ Amnesia was just messing with you. If you have trouble finding good herb, I would recommend you go to Mellow Yellow. Good people, good herb and friendly atmosphere. Try their S5, La Confidential, Super Silver Haze, or Blueberry. You can also ask the dealer what's the best/strongest/best tasting herb on the menu at the moment and he will be glad to help you out. Peace.

for a sit-down i prefer rookies, the tenders are cool and the place is spacious, also the chairs are ok to sit in. its close to leidseplein and the casino.

for weed you have to run around town
