How big is the plant and how old is it? It's not uncommon for runners to exit pots way before the rootmass has adequately filled the container...

the plant is about 2.5 inches tall, the first set of leaves are developed and the second set is coming in nice.

oh yeah, its also about 5 days from sprout.

the roots are touching the bottom though...

no worrys buddy this was in the container about 2wks, starting in a container like you did should be abel to transplant every 2 wks until desired flowering container is reached. start 8oz cup, then 1 gal, then 3 gal finial or then 5 gal finial :). trust us a few roots in the bottom isnt gonna make it root bound

Do you have drainage holes on the bottom of the cup?

What/where are you going to transplant? In the ground or another container?
And why just one plant?

one plant because this is stealth, and yes i am going to plant it into a 1 gall pot from an 8oz cup with drainage holes in the bottom.

as i said most roots are touching the bottom and i can see them on the sides. should i transplant or shouldnt i?

:yeahthats

stealth is cool, bro, but what if that one plant ends up a male?
i'd start at least 4 or 5...

it seems to me you WANT to transplant it, so go for it.
make a hole as deep as your 8oz cup and carefully squeeze the sides together and gently tap the bottom so the whole thing (dirt/plant) comes out and place it in the hole with love.

others might disagree but i always add some water to the hole first before placing the plant in.

i also find it best to transplant in the morning before the sun gets on the plant.

1 is stealth for sure; as the theme music from mission impossible plays, hope its a female for ya. Post a pic, you'll get a for sure answer that way. I would say wait a week. Rushing the plant into an oversized pot will slow you down and make the perfect conditions to get yourself a good case of root rot. In the end its your call, choose wisely grasshoper.

at least a week, tellin ya

oh dang man, just repot the thing, water it in good and don't water again till the soil has dried some and the pot feels light. Overwatering will kill it quicker than anything else, root rot is hard to recover from.

I usually transplant after about 2 weeks from small pots into 1 gallon pots. Then another transplant should be made into a bigger pot about a week or so before flower. This way when the plant starts flowering she will stretch in the first 2 to 3 weeks and have plenty of space for more roots. Once the stretch is over the roots don't grow that much after that. I transplanted one time at about 2 weeks into flower into a 3 gallon pot thinking it would increase my yield. When I harvesest the pot wasn't even full. Goes to show you roots don't grow that much after the stretch.

Multiple transplants are where it's at, the root zone usually fills the bottom of the pot and it's sides, if you jump to a bigger pot straight from a small one there is often a good percentage of you soil with a minimal amount of rootzone contained in the center.
Typically the more a rootzone fills up the previous container without getting rootbound IMHO the better, the idea is to get concentric circles of rootzones from each transplant.
