theres my point rite there...your an outdoor grower trying to argue your opinion in an indoor soil room!! why dont you go pose in an outdoor forum ? your over here giving threory about shit you obviously dont know shit about!!!! actuallu why dont you go post for an opinion in a breeders forum about the basic rule???
i will post the rule again as laymen as possible for you so you understand it!!!
an "average" mj plant that is flipped at 1 ft...will finish at aprox 3 ft ! indoors..under hps or mh. and bye the way .....i can veg a plant 21 days and make it look like your 40-50 days...and so can many others on this site...so yea ya thought rite this is a growers forum so dont come here posing!!!

Woah dude, just chill out for a moment. This is just the freaking internet after all.

listen up...if u read back in the posts i started as friendly wording..then u start on the negative side and i continued !! i am not gonna sit here and argue..its stupid! your outside grow methods DONT APPLY to indoor growing! and indoor grow and outdoor grow are 2 completley different types of grows! an outdoor plant will grow out its natural course and what you determine to not be stretch is in fact a plant that can grow up to 16 ft in some strains naturaly and in the course of months! an indoor grow is a controlled growing enviroment where an experienced grower will and can manipulate the plants growth and maturity as you say. as a general rule of thumb for experienced growers the plants under light are best to be kept at 3 ft approx. because of the lights! a average HPS 600w setup will only properly penatrate a 3 ft canopy and and anything much taller will only produce weak lower buds that are not dense as apposed to the upper buds. therefor MANY experienced growers will flip the plants at approx 1ft to finish at approx 3ft. your 40-50day more mature plants are not more mature than my 12 inch plant as in theory they are in the same stage of life...veggitative stage. if we flip our plants at the same time...yours at 50 days and mine at 21 days they will still be in theory the same age and both just going into the flowering and ultimatley the dieing stages together...hence your "mature" plant has no advantages  your tall and more mature plant will only produce more loose shwag as the lowers of the plant will not finish the same as the rest of the plant. now you say well i trim and remove the bottoms/lowers..well i ask then what is the point?? i dont get it? like i said i meant no disrespect to you...i was putting forward a "basic rule" for indoor growing for the author of this thread and now it turned into this. i was talking basics and its turned into all the theories. i know the differences in grows and know that we can use "lst" methods and light movers and all the other ways to make a 1 pound finished plant...but i was just throwing out a basic indoor grow rule to try to help out the thread author...thats it. with all that said i am going to say it one more time and im done. a basic indoor grow rule is that if you flip a 1ft plant it will finish at approx 3ft.peace,regicide

That is a good possibility now they are 40 days old. Normally you will see the males first though. If you dont have a lot of space you could flower them if you want. When you turn to 12/12 you should be able to sex them all within 5 days. Have you tied them down or anything?

I've grown indoors and outdoors since Marc Emery was selling T shirts and was sporting his Bill Gates look. Whoop dee do dah! Big deal.

Regicide's basic rule of thumb is perfectly sound. Under typical traditional indoor growing techniques, planning for you plants to tripple in size is a good estimate for most indoor strains. Now if I put those same plants outdoors in late march up in No Cal, I'd expect them to do a hell of a lot more then tripple in size.

Yes, if you manipulate the lights, environment, and nutrients right, you can keep them from trippling in size, or you can make them grow 5 times bigger. But generally, if you follow the normally adhered to practices, trippling is a good basic rule that, like any other general rule of thumb involved in growing, any experienced and knowledgable grower can break at their whim should they choose to do so.
Regicide was most definatly *not* wrong. If you have a differing opinion, fine. Everyone has differeing opinions, just ask whether Hydro or Soil is better. But you don't have to be confrontational or demeaning to others to state a differeing opinion. Doing so in such a manner isn't going to impress anyone and doesn't help the community in any way. So everyone just lighten up. We got enough enemies, we don;t need to be making enemies of each other.

and don't forget about genetics! certain strains are just bigger stretchers than others. people growing hazes and other sativa strains often switch to 12-12 right after a clone has rooted because of the massive stretch while they may let the indicas veg a bit before the switch. I like reefermans old seed catalog over at his site that you can still look at and each strain description tells the stretch you may expect from that strain. I wish more breeders would do this. lazy noobs need to do a search on related topics

Real nice, Unlazy people don't mind responding to a good thread.

I switch from MH to HPS about two weeks into flower. I like the blue light side during the time the plant just starts putting on bud. I switch to HPS to finish her.
