When do AFs start packing on the bud, er blooming quickly?

Out of the few plants I have outside, I've basically met all the optimal conditions for my plants, they have no deficiencies, and have had non, no burns, basically perfect growth from seed.. Though, they didn't start to flower till week 5/9(LR2).... About 15 days left till the 9 weeks is up.. and.... the buds are extremely small lol.

This makes me wonder because.. I have seen people grow in little 16oz party cups and get easily 15g off LR2 in that small cup... oh and they grew it under like 60 watts of CFLs which were like 6 inches above the plants.. This 60 watts was distributed over 5-6 plants in 16oz cups.

Now, this makes me curious because, my plants are about, 2x bigger than his 8 inch LR2's in 16oz party cups, and mine are in 3gallon pots each. So I've had no problems at all, but the buds are so terribly small lol.

Do they start packing on bud weight in the last few weeks or what? If not, what could be wrong with mine causing such small bud growth, all conditions met, no problems, good soil mixture with a good ratio of different things. Very few bug problems etc....

People say when they start producing seeds bud growth AND resin production stops... but the small buds that are on my plant at the moment are overflowing with resin.

So is there's something that's not apparent and is wrong with my plants, or do they just start blooming much faster in the last few weeks?

I wonder about this too. I wrote the other day that the intensity of light doesn't seem, I'm not positive about this, to equal yield directly. Maybe what you just posted can hint at a method to increase yield per light. Maybe if you keep the lights on 24/0 then 20/4 but use low wattage per area you can get better yield per watt. Maybe unless they get LONG HOURS they just don't yield well. I've got some under regular fluorescent tubes now. Have to see what they do.

60 watts is no where near enough light if you want dense buds. with that amount of light you with have some very fluffly buds. you will want at least 150 watts. either an hps and a feliz fluoroescent.

That's exactly my point....

This other guy managed to grow extremely dense short buds in very small containers(cups) under 60 some watts, yet in my huge pots under sunlight my buds are petite.

you say they didnt start to flower until week 5? and they are now at week 9? that is not enough time to produce big buds! im assuming all the hairs are still white and immature? by the sounds of it this isnt going to be a 9week plant, more like a 12-14! was it cold outside? cold weather can delay the autoflowering gene

Not cold outside... The buds are coated with resin right now.... I need to go radio shack and get a little microscope soon.

They were never in cold weather... possibly the coldest they got was 40 for a night once? Never ever got to freezing and never were in the cold for too long.

I can deal with waiting a few more weeks, would be kind of irritating, but whatever, more bud :S?

Also, talking to another LR2 grower on youtube, same one with the dense buds in the small cups, said they started packing on bud at like 40 days... which mine are like at....44 or 45 or so.

They've got some time to go, all I can do is wait and see :S

Where did you get the seed?
IMO that don't sound like an AF. True AF start flowering around the 3rd week and by the 4-5 you should have decent amount of bud and growth.

Sounds like you got an early flower strain which doesn't do any good to be counting weeks bc if you buds are small you've got atleast another month left to flower.

I got it from The Joint DR sites.... It's definitely an autoflower, and they're definitly some pretty resionous buds.

I'm starting to think they got stressed a bit when I put them outside after a week of being inside, but they showed absolutely NO signs of stress, and were booming right when I put them out.

they won't show signs of stress. they will just stop growing when you transplant from inside to out. they'll be in shock for about a week. super thrive is supposed to minimize the stress.

They didn't stop growing though. They instantly shot upwards after 1 day of being in the sun.

Are you saying it stunts their biological clock in terms of when to flower? Because that might explain why they flowered later then usual. Would I have to leave them in flower for an extra week or so to compensate?

I start mine indoors and then move them outdoors. In general I find that autos grown outdoors take a few days to a week longer to show sex than those grown indoors. I've also seen that some phenos take longer than others.
