^ Ding ding... thats the winner, that method is the only one that ever works for me in restoring my pipes to new condition, if you stay on top of cleaning them you can always clean to it to its original condition in just one run.

i use hand sanatizer and pipe cleaners. if it's real gunked up then use some brake cleaner. just make sure you let it soak in alcohol til the brake cleaner stench is gone. this is very bad for you but if you do it right it is the best cleaner out there!

I have 70% iso, it is rubbing alcohol, is that ok?

this might be off topic, but what causes the glass to change color? and I notice as I clean it the glass that was turning blue is going away.

The 'color' will come back when the pipe gets dirty again. If you hold the clean pipe over a black shirt or somthing you can see some of the color change.

Usually, I'm too lazy to do much shaking. So, I get a Ziploc baggie, put the pipe in it and fill the bag to where the pipe is submerged. I then close it up, stick it on a nail, through the part above the zip-seal. It works even better if you can stick it in a sunny spot, the alcohol and slight bit of warmth will work that stuff totally loose. When I'm really in a hurry, I'll do the add salt and shake thing, then rinse with super hot tap water, gets gunk all over the place, but it's quicker! I usually wash it with dishsoap and water after cleaning out all the resin, then rinse well.

simple green.

i soak my pieces in a bowl of simple green, 100% strength, although i'm sure less would work too.

pieces should be kept sparkly clean so you don't taste the resin, especially bubblers, since the stem gets clogged easily.

you can leave your pieces soaking in this, then whenever you need one, just grab it out and rinse thoroughly.

it might sound crazy it's very nice to have a clean piece on a regular basis.

ever notice how some people NEVER clean their piece? you go to pack a bowl and you're like, what the fuck is this, a resin block?

I prefer the >90% iso alcohol and not table salt, but rock salt. Table salt works fine too, but rock salt works better.

User Name, I have heard of using simple green also. And I agree, someone hands you a nasty bowl or even worse a nasty bong. Thats just laziness.

Denture tablets can help it get sparkly clean and smell good to. But after you get the gunky resin out of course. Just let the tablet fizz all around the bowl in a container then drain and rinse.

ive heard that if you are using the salt method sea salt works the best.

It doesn't really matter...salt could be substituted by a lot of things. All it does is "grit" away the weakened resin.

Boiling it sort of works, but seriously dont do it. Your house will smell bad and if you stand by it too long you will feel like shit. My favorite is definatley the alcohol salt mixture.

i just usually buy a bottle of orange chronic or the other pipe cleaner they have at shops and it works well. I usually just poor the cleaner into a zip lock and put the pipe in, shake it around some, try to get the cleaner into the pipe and close the holes/carbs and shake away. i usually let it sit in there for like 1/2 hour then use warm-hot water and run it through the pipe for ever. CAreful though too much resin could probablyclog the sink or something

Toothpicks can help you get some of the stuff out if the salt/iso doesn't do it. I really need to clean my one hitter...

Or the twist ties that come on loaves of bread, they work great. But usually, a soak in sun warmed 70% will get out everything, just a hot water rinse away from a clean pipe.
