Thanks everyone for your input, I love it, even when every post tells me to do something different haha. So many perspectives to learn from. I am so thankful.

After literally spending hours walking back and forth in my garden analyzing the best option, I decided to do as I usually do- take a risk, but hedge my bets. There were 5 sets of the biggest plants right next to each other, and a couple stunted sets, so I transplanted one from each big set to between the stunted ones. If the big transplants show growth then I'll cull the smaller ones. The rest of the plant are smaller but I still might pull a few. We'll see how I feel.

It brings my numbers to a more comfortable place, and I wanted to see how big I can get them anyway :) My biggest plant is a 4 ft blueberry hashplant on a pretty high mound so it should be a pretty tall tree. I think I'll be able to sit under it :)

The plants were in big gopher cages so they easily pulled out of the ground. I was able to salvage some long thick roots coming out of the cages as well. The lateral hairs off the main roots got ripped. Will those root hairs regrow?

This cooler weather should really help the transplants.
I think you'll be happy with your decision.
Losing roots can slow down growth for a while, depends on how large the roots were.
