I have an 8 inch fresh filter that is still working well after a year in service.

I found a great deal on this filter. Mine even came with a pre-filter + they also have duct mufflers.

I just bought a 2nd filter for my first grow, for the second run through. The first one I bought was an amazon special and I wasn't happy at all with it's performance, especially during late flower period. The 2nd one I just bought was a Phat filter for the exact reason you listed above, they provide CFM numbers for 1-pass and recirculating scubbing settings. I have been pulling through filter then pushing the air out a dryer vent, but I think now i'm going to pull the exhaust from the dryer vent and finish by pushing through the new Phat filter to inside the house. I'm really hoping this takes care of the odor issues, if not, I'll pick up an Ona Pro Gel bucket and a breeze dispenser fan unit for the top of it. I thought about getting a VaporTek system, but the filters seem to be much more expensive per days worth of use than the Ona Pro Gel running only during flowering.

The next grow I'm setting up, I'm probably going to run 3 total carbon filters for as much stealth as possible. Depending on how well this Phat filter works, I might scale that back...but based on my first run with a no-name brand carbon filter, I'm paranoid now.

My system mates the fan directly to the phat filter, then pushes air thru the light & ducting to the outside. The homemade exhaust light trap is more restrictive than I'd like, so I'm adding another fan/filter combo that exhausts into the house's heating ducts for summertime operation. Both fans pull air into the enclosure thru an Adorama light trap. I should have gone for the 2'x1' model for lower restriction, rather than the 1'x1'...

The whole thing works OK, but I intend to rebuild entirely after the 1st of the year...
