Just got done watching an eco-horror movie called "The Bay." Damn good. Had me cringing. Streaming on Netflix.

Haunt, and Saw, or Friday 13th movies.
I remember seeing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre & The First House on the Left together as a double feature back in '74. Last House was Wes Cravens directorial debut, written by him too.
I did enjoy Gothika with Halle Berry. Thought it was a fairly original story line with some nice thrills in it.

John Carpenter's 'The Thing'
Wilford Brimley pre dia-be-tes, Kurt Rusell in a Sombrero, shape shifting aliens, some of the BEST make-up effects ever, and it's set to the errie back drop of a research facility in Antartica.
It blends the line between horror and sci-fi but I think it's in my top 5 for both categories.

The Texas chainsaw massacre with Jessica biel one of my favs
Saw the Exorcist when it was first released in theatres.Me and a friend saw it,and then stopped at McDonald's which was selling green McShamrock shakes for St Paddy's day.Fast forward a few minutes,we were behind a church getting stoned,just as we were finishing a "bomber"(that's what us old Fucks called a joint back then lol)when my buddy looked over at me I let out a fucking belly growl,along with a mouthfull of the green shake.
I think his mom hated me more than him,she did the laundry!
So the Exorcist holds a special place on my list.

I highly recommend "Ravenous" to anyone who hasn't seen it. You won't be disappointed. One of the most bizarre movies I've ever seen. It's on Netflix.

house of 1000 corpses and devils rejects are damn good slashers
im not much into the "classics" i want a more "this coulda happpened somewhere at some time" stories cept of course the campy flicks
for my money , evil dead 2 is the finest scary movie ever made. perfect balance of fear and tongue in cheek humor and of course BRUCE FUCKING CAMPBELL, FTW!

The whole evil dead trilogy is great.i thought they were gonna make a series or something? Eden Lake is really good.left a bad feeling in my stomach at the end though.highly recommended

Ash vs Evil Dead is on Starz. I haven't personally seen it but it seems to have good reviews.
I hear Eden Lake is a good movie. I've seen Preservation which had a very similar plot but it wasn't all that great.

And, there is that classic scene in Breaking Bad when Gus Fring gets his face blown off. I always wondered if that was CGI or make-up.
