Hello all,

Thanks for the replies.

Firstly, I will be bringing a tincture for the cruise...really difficult to smoke in the ships...do not have a balcony I am sad to say.

You can get away with using bats/dugouts (which would be my next best alternative) and stealth pipes but you still are out on the deck and you need a windproof lighter cause its breezy while at sea. Of course your room is a bad idea as they are positively vented so that smoking will be detected in the hallway. Vaping is only just a little better as I have yet to find a decent portable discrete vape pen/device.

Tinctures (green dragon) burn sublingually but are quicker then swallowing...besides it seems tinctures give me mudbutt when I put it in something to drink or eat.

I will not try and bring any back though I have been there before (different port).

I think that I will be using a taxi anyway to get from the pier to the hip strip as it is called...after scoring, I plan on spending the afternoon in Margarettaville enjoying the buzz and a red strip.

So looking forward to going and smoking something way different (hoping to anyway).

Also looking forward to either jerk chicken or oxtail with rice and peas or maybe something else.

Keep the info coming, I truly appreciate it.

Wow man why don't ya be a little more negative...Jamaica is an amazing place and it is impossible NOT to have a good time there especially as a cannabis smoker.

If you actually paid 40 bucks for a 1/4 oz is Jamaica then I'm not surprised you had a shitty time. Just because they try to sell it to you at that price does not mean that is what you have to pay. In the first 5 minutes of getting to my hotel I paid 20 bucks for at least 12 grams of weed and that was the worst deal I got the whole time I was there. Their gonna eat you alive if you agree to pay 40 bucks a 1/4 lol...

Jamiaca is very inexpensive for nice 5 star resorts. The weed, rum, woman and even cocaine and other substances are plentiful. What more could a person looking for a good time want?

1 I live there for a good part of the year and have done since 2006, so I think I see more than any tourists, I also have a business that employs 8 Jamaicans

2 I never said I paid $40, that's what the guys who drive for me charge, I pay $200/kg for Orange Hill, which is the best herb on the Island

3 The fucking resorts are the curse of the Island, sure they provide work but at a barely living wage and they treat their employees like shit
The fields where the Jamaicans used to grow food for themselves now have big greenhouses on to hydroponically grow the salads, etc for the resorts

4 The last time I was there I gave my Rasta cook $200 to go out and get some food, rum and ganja to celebrate Heroes Day, we were held up at gunpoint as we went home........by the JDF (aka the Army) in full combat gear

5 What's not to like?
Getting 7 outboard motors stolen off the glass bottom boat I own with my Jamaican buddy
Being shot at randomly
Having the cooks wife gang raped and the fuckers forcing him to watch
There's loads more but you get the idea

Living here and being a tourist are totally different

Enjoy your dream, I felt that way when I was only a visitor and back then the Island was beautiful and the reef filled with fish, now the shit the resorts pump into the sea have made the reef around Negril a dead zone

what ship are you on ? no trouble smoking flowers on board just not in your room. when on deck the breezes blows so hard that there is no weed smell. we did it the whole time. no trouble lighting it either just duck in behind a huge support beam, you make it so complicated.

on the freedom of the sea it was so easy getting weed on board, theirs no dogs just an xray machine. only thing i did wrong was not bringing more on board.

just to be smoking something at bobs grave was truly an honor for me.

jes man why go back you paint such a shit picture of Jamaica. its a third world country if people thought any of that didn't go on they would be living a very sheltered life.

im sure their are places in the UK that you will get shot at easy enough, here in Ireland you deff can.

most of the points you make happen every where, bad pay abused by employer.

any good points of Jamaica you can tell us about, id really like to go back for longer ?

Bush Dr, you know there's a couple of jokes about the difference between being a tourist somewhere and immigrating to that place.

but in short, they illustrate what you have told us.

from experience, I know how it is as well. and it can go both ways... a place that at first does not look like much, once you get to know it as a 'local', and you just like it more and more as time passes on, even with all its imperfections.

I don't know what it is, but every place that the Caribbean sea touches, is getting worse and worse as time passes on...incredible as nature has gifted the whole place with beauty and natural riches that other places can only dream of.

peace

Sadly, you're not gonna see or experience ANYTHING of the real Jamaica on a one day stop on a cruise ship...

I'm sure glad I did my first two trips there in the early 70's...
Spent 2 1/2 months there on the first trip and one month on the second.
It was great back then for a long haired hippie American...
Yeah there were a few hustlers then, but they were few and far between...
I spent a LOT of time up in the hills with the real rastas and had a very "enlightening" journey..
By my last trip there in 1994, it seemed most of the island had been taken over by the hustlers, taking advantage of the tourist trade...
Finding the old fashioned Jamaica sativa is probably difficult these days, as the island has been contaminated by indica pollen flying in the breeze, to almost all but the few very hidden hollows in the mountains...

But I hope you have a good time on your cruise, just be careful who you deal with, anywhere near the ports....

Was there close to ten years ago. Honestly, I would never go back. Most of the island is pretty damn dangerous. I can't stand the idea of closed off resorts, but we were at one so i went to wander off. The armed guards should have been a bit of a warning....but if you have ever been to a third world country dudes standing around kinda bored with assault weapons isn't new. I just wanted to go walk around, hit up a local bar. There was one not far, a little ramshackle place, walked in, looked great....but the record scratched at they were all like "white boiiiiii......whatcha doin in our bar mon" and so I drank my drink, tried to chat up the locals, but then realized I was gonna get robbed pretty shortly so i just split and luckily was quick enough they didn't catch up when i left.

For weed...got like an ounce of sativa dominant seedless branch for like 40 bucks. Had to sit it out to dry, really wasn't great potency wise but had nice effects and flavor. Had luck just talking with the bartender at my hotel. Had to pick up a bit more once that ran out and wound up with garbage brick weed from mexico for like 20 bucks for an 8th or so.

Hey brother, I feel you on how dangerous the Island is and am sorry to here about all the shit you and your friends have been through...It is no secret that Jamaica can be a very dangerous place but the OP is a tourist that will most likely be frequenting tourist areas.

I spent LOTS of time off the resort but most of the time we were going to tourist type attractions like Duns River Falls, Bob's house, ATV'ing through the jungle, etc and of course never once felt the slightest bit unsafe at any of the places like that as the tourist areas are very safe in my experience. Everyone was super friendly everywhere we went and weed was always offered.

I also ventured off to things your not gonna see in a guidebook such as getting a tour of a ganja field, going to a concert at Margaritaville with one of the bartenders at our hotel that we became very close with and still talk to to this day and being the only white people their....There was a shooting in the parking lot that night just as the concert ended. Being there was very scary for sure and I got a lot of hard stares, most likely for being the only white boy at a gangster rap concert in Jamaica.

Went to a local bar with my bartender friend as well and never will I do that again. Thought I was going to be robbed and killed for sure and 100% would have if not for my bartender friend who was a local.

BUT, I still try and go back every single year! I have not been in a few but will 100% be there this year sometime. I just love it so much but I also really like my time on the all inclusive resort and I know many do not like being "stuck" at the resort but again, I leave almost every day to the safe touristy places with no issues at all. Nothing but good times, mon!

One good thing about Jamaica is the price. I was looking at some packages in Negril earlier this spring going for around $1,000. Airfare and a 3/5 boutique hotel. That's a friggin steal in my opinion.
