What to do with this 1000 HPS

Hey everyone i just posted this in the grow equipment area for some reason (sorry guys)

But alright heres my question this might sound like silly question to some but iv got 1000hps kickin round and im debating between sog and scrog ...

I know this depends heavly on the strain but if i were to scrog...would i have to use a octgonal reflector or what ?

Or is the scrog idea just bad all together...any suggestions or comments would be appreciated...
Also this is going to be grown in a basment bedroom apartment

Hey Everyone ...come on someone has got to have some ideas....what would u do with some soil, 1000 hps, and a small bedroom in a basement....
any an all suggestions would be appreciated

id dedicate a say 5x5 area panda plastic it and SOG it with say 16 plants veg them all for no more than a month and only go for 1 big nug per plant use 3-5 gal pots all the same strain id probally go with an indica dominant plant and hope for a lb+ that way u should have 16 1oz+ big nugz

just do a sog dude. start with some nice organic soil, suppletment with nutes as needed and just run it in a 4x4 or 5x5 space with ventilation. even if you dont feel like doing a sog it will work up your confidence if you just prune up 2/3rd's of the plant and see a big cola sitting their. if you dont prune sog style and just leave them to grow naturally, seeing all the popcorn buds wil make you think you did something wrong. also dont expect a huge yield. my opinion...just do a sog STYLE grow without all the plant numbers until you get better at it...btw im ASSUMING your a new grow if not, my apologies.

Chronic - yea man i like the idea with the seperate area mite make it 6x6 an make sure i rotate well......this is sounding appealing right now...just because i want to get some sort of perpetual thing goin here i got another 400w cab grow begining shortly too ...but thanks again man have a happy christmas


George - Hey man yea sog looks good to me...but yeah i got a few harvests under my belt...i just got a room to work with now want to make it worth it....thats the thing im lookin for somthing it work in perpetually...an somthing with a decnt yield....but anyways thanks for the advice man...much appreciated

Just another question what shape of reflector would u recommend to max my footprint?

I'd plug it in and put some mad Klingon weed under it
(Klingon weed might be Bogs LSD, Rez's St/D or some G-13 Hashplant) (at least in mygarden - yours might be whatever ya have beans to grow)

Pretty self explanatory really - but I can expand - put a plant under the light and don't plug it in.....

you gotta find a good mom THEN decide how ti grow it
You grow how ya want, but methods are largely determined by space and - your choice of a clone mom some will be better choices for sog some scrog and some may wana be little trees - which you CAN do with 1000W - If you know what plant your growing

just wanted soem people to throw some ideas around and make somthing from those...

well scrog are usually for smaller wattage lights. 1000 is a lot of light so I would go with some SOG and maybe a little LSTing or topping... but not a scrog...

I'd be more worried about WHAT to grow than how to grow it.


I see it as 2 choices - in varying degrees - quanitity or quality, I find quality has a couple choice advantages - I can fire a doobie up and watch people gravitate inwards - those that know,,, KNOW.
and plants know too - they don't have to grow huge if they are really really good


Like I said,, plug that big dog in and MAKE IT GROW!

ok,,,, get the very best beans you are sure you can get to grow, then, go dog go!

Most use a horizintal - I'm thinking your current s/u is vertical huh?

verticals work better pluged in too --- --ok i'll ease up

If it's an older set-up, you should replace the bulb pretty soon - yes I'd use a horizontal hood - some bulbs are designed vertical some horizontal and some universal


check your goodies - 1000W get warm - be carefull out there.

Hey Kirk....haha quite the character mate....but yea it seems to want to hang verticle...so should be thinkin octgon shape? or just make it fit in the standard horizontal hood....thats what u mean by horizontal right ?

They make reflectors for vertical applications I've got a couple in moth balls if your needing one lol


I kinda like horizontal with a decent hood - fits in a corner better, the vertical really needs to hung in the middle of the plants - like wagons around the camp fire.

Fire and grow together - there's a scary thought anyway,,

Like I said before - some bulbs are designed for Horizontal, some for vertical and some ar universal - make sure as you replace you
plan accordingly -
