What to choose ?

Hi, I plan to grow one or two autos outdoors in May but I just don't know what to choose. I just need some good smoke in the sumeer, if I pull out 30 grams I'd be very happy. I have been thinking of choosing Mi5, Diesel Ryder, or Hymalaian Blue Diesel. If you had to pick one which would you choose ? I'm open to other suggestions and tips. Peace, HJ.

After reading some threads I decided to go big... I think I will choose Big Devil #2 from Sweet Seeds, I'll try only one and see what happens. But I have another question; I've been reading about autoflowers and it is said that they don't like to be transplanted. I can grow only outdoors, so could I germinate the seed in paper towels and then put it directly into the hole ? Or should I just grow it in a big pot, from start to finnish ? Please help a noob... Peace, HJ.

yes... as you said, you shouldnt transpant AF's.. well you can but transplanting(topping,... any kind of shock reduce yield) means shock for a plant so it doesnt grow intill it ''repair'' itself. and with short AF life we dont want any shocks right? it is best for you to pick right sized pots(according to whole life of AF). usualy are 7 liters pots enough(bigger = better, well not always..) to make expectated yield. and then you put already germinated seed in it. so pots are best for AF's but diggin hole is almost same crap as pots, just that you cant controll fertilizers as well as in pots.

Thanks for the answers. One quick question though; should I give autoflowers liquid nutes like I'd give to normal ones, or at lower strength ? I have the ones from Biobizz.

don't feed autos until I sex, just plain water, then start out with 1/2 strength and go up from there. not sure about biobizz, but using foxfarm, I start at their week 4 schedule (again, at half strength).

I've used Biobizz on AF's for years.

Very quick run down of what has worked well for me:

Start them in lightmix

Plain water until sex

Transplant @ sex into all mix, watered in with 0.5ml/Litre grow

Then build up from there.

Depends on strain and lighting to a degree.

Once established *read, out of seedling stage, AF's can be heavy feeders. High metabolism.

In the past I potted up into allmix or similar and gave plain water thinking the soil would contain enough nutrition for a few weeks but they got hungry quickly and you'll lways be playing catchup from there, which is difficult to manage.

I now mix my own soil to save monies, so it's really just a case of watching them super closely to asses their needs.

EDIT: all the above info from indoor grows. Principles shouldn't be too dissimilar to outdoor though

Dieselryder is a pretty sure bet, I´ve tried a lot of AF´s and this one seems stable and gives a good smoke.

looks liek the bay is sold out of them. SGS is listed as a private breeder on the bay. Not trying to get in trouble, but they do have them available through a different vendor that carries SGS seeds.

If you started OGREs in big pots say 5-6 Litres, then potted them up to even larger pots.. say 15-20L then you could get away with 16 females perhaps. 4 per 1m2?

How many plants do you normally have in there??

Shoot sgs a PM I'm sure he can advise you better than I. (PS sorry to OP)

You CANNOT go wrong with the FSxPB f2s. I hype these every chance I get. They are a pleasure to grow, and in the f2, there are some great colors. Just a fun strain to grow, and very low maintenance-just pop em and they do the rest (well, you know what I mean...)

Good advice from Mitch and osprey.

I haven't really followed the AF market in awhile but you can't go wrong with SGS, Mdanzig or Sweet Seeds, as they are all breeders on this site if you are to run into any unexpected problems you can get help usually right away. Other than that, goodluck.
