What should I expect for a yield?

We got our garage drywalled, insulated, and a huge carbon filter installed. Using three 1000 watt lights and have 20 plants in dirt. I am doing every totally organic. Clearly, the strains will alter the results.
Overall, with the help of a grower with 10 years experience, what should we expect to average each harvest?

Yeah, it sounds like you're going to have an amazing harvest. Not quite sure what to say in terms of an estimated yield, but if you do things right, I think you're going to have some massive buds.

Granted, I've found that organic grows aren't nearly as impressive as non-organic ones, even if they are healthier.

Are you going with Iguana Juice? The AN line seems to yield the biggest results for me, well, in the non-organic side, granted.

I wish I could have had the help of a grower with 10 years of experience when I was starting out. Oh the mistakes I could have avoided......

Let us know what you do yield, and while I can't tell you exact numbers, it's going to be a lot, barring any big problems or pest issues.

if you have 20 plants in dirt from the backyard, i would say not much...what medium are you using?

if you have assistance of an experienced grower, he/she should be able to tell you.

you are asking for an impossible answer with so little information provided.

My teacher thinks he is the best. The problem is that I read things that don't agree with what he says and when I bring them up, he gets all pissed off that I am questioning him.
The dirt is from Humbolt County. I forgot the name but it is the bright colored bags with a frog on the bag. The nutrients are all from a grow shop. They make their own tea so I don't know what is in it. The more I learn, the more I question him. The reason the anticipated yield becomes a question is because I am growing for 5 ladies , between 50 and 83. I need to make sure we have enough for everyone's needs. If it is not going to be enough, maybe I need to make a change while I can.
Perhaps I can add more plants and keep them closer together.
I make tinctures and creams so it gets used up fast.
I have read about people getting 8 oz on a plant but that seems impossible indoors, but maybe not! The cost of the electric is high so I an trying to trying to anticipate the end cost based on the projected yield.

well...if it helps for comparison purposes, i use a 400 watt HPS and yield an ounce per plant. usually 6-8 plants each flowering cycle...mostly indicas and they usually finish in 8-10 weeks.

are you going to set your garage up for vertical growing?

the soil and nutes, etc. you describe sound just fine...

check some of krunchbubble's posts here at icmag, and some posts from dr dog...look for some setups that may be similar to yours to get a better idea on what is possible to achieve with a setup similar to yours.

if your 'teacher' gets upset when you ask questions, he is not much of a teacher. learning is a two way street.

hi,, iv got a hobby grow with 400 hps. i get 1-2 oz a plant. i think that is prob reasonable,, if everything goes well. if not --not:comfort:

About the same here. With a little cfl supplemental. But im allways looking for ways to improve the yield.

to many variables....

to maximize yield, open bulb grow would would great, surround the bulbs with the plants....

or use hoods and top the plants several times to create a huge canopy.....

shooot, 3 1KW bulbs, ppl like to aim for 1g/w, that would be about 3000g or 6.5 lb?

when i was still doing soil, i would veg plants to about 14-16 inches tall topping them along the way and plant in 5 gallon buckets. FFOF soil and Tiger bloom for nutrients. Under 1k Hps i hit a ceiling at roughly 2-2.5 oz per plant. 9 plants total. The strain a decent yeilding haze plant. Final size was just under three feet tall for each plant with a combined canopy that was roughly 6'x5'. thats about .5 grams per watt for soil.

right now with a perpetual crop running in the same room and 6 hydroponic buckets, im pulling an average of 15 oz from three plants total. so around 5 ounces per plant. being that this only HALF the total output the light could be producting the GPW should be doubled for this number. 15 ounces from three under a 1000 watt light works out to ~.42 grams per watt. Or .84 gpw for an entire cycle if i were to flower out 6 at once.

Based on all of this id say growing soil and growing them big like i did @ 3000 watts and about 10 more plants i think that 2-3 pounds is a decent estimate if your doing it right with no problems and optimal enviroment. with 20 plants i would bet on less.

huh?

I just pulled 2.5 lbs from 9 plants under a 1K, COMPLETELY organic, no liquid nutes, no chemical ferts,...just a well built soil, and pure water

nothing wrong with organic yields at all: 2.5lbs=1136 grams - divide by 1000watts= 1.36 grams per watt (took 80 days from clone to harvest)

whats wrong is thinking that the fluffy hydro potassium laden chemical bud is "better",....

you can get JUST as much from a organic grow as a hydro, and sometimes the organic will out yield hydro,....and with MUCH better taste and fragrance.

1.0 gpw is I guess the 'pro tier' benchmark to shoot for or exceed; I cut that in half for my noob self, give or take. Once you dial your medium you can play with nutes and get it pumpin especially on a rapid rotation perp sog. easy to test changes

Have you ever used FF liquid ferts in ur hydroponics system? I was wondering if it would be useful with coconut coir to pre-charge it. Probably just throw some Ca+ in there with it. Do you know anything about coco? Does something get locked out above 5.8-6.2? Above that? I'll make sure there is a sufficient supply in the soil. I'd really like to work in a good hydro shop some day. Something with rainwater and a greenhouse.
OP if u're not some fucking narc, I'd love to give u a hand.

between zero and 1g per watt :D

really though you are getting ahead of yourself thinking about yield. think about growing the plants well, dont kill them with kindness (feeding etc) and the yield will come at the end.

for a yield determination theres a lot of info needed and ususally never really precise. if your ''teacher'' doesnt care what other people have to say dump him - there is so much useful information on this side and in many other sources. if you keep reading and listening you keep getting better (at least getting better informed). listen to the advise each and every person gives you and analyze it.

if yield is an issue use hydro. im on hydro since about 2 years and it just has been a love story - now im flowering out my mothers at the moment and they are in soil and im just facing a pile of pain again. those plants are growing slow and soil is such an advanced medium, you always have to feed it by hand and so on ...
