Has anyone used the nirvana nutrients? They claim to be organic .Also is it possible that sleepng in the same room as your grow op could be harmfull to your health (chemical nutrients)?I knew of a guy who was a pro gardener that stored chemicals under his bed .He became very ill and to this day can only eat certain foods as they make him very ill.

Compost.

I do add kelp meal and bone meal to the compost for my hidden garden though.
If you can’t make it, buy it; compost

What was first the chicken or the egg? You have wandered into a zone that will bring nothing but bickering. What ever works for YOU is the best nute's. For myself it's Biotanicare start to finish for some it's their own urine lol.

But as I said it's what works for you that makes the deciding difference, evn tho the bottom line is as it will always be,does what ya grow get ya high? Thats really what we are all after right?

Mix your own nutrients

Mix your own nutrients

The best nutrient solutions are ones you make yourself. You control what is added and can be adjusted according to the plants responses. All you need is a gram scale to weigh the elements out. Micronutrients can be purchased seperately (in chelated form if need be) from companys like hydro-gardens. Large bags of calcium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and others can probably be found locally through farmer fertilizer warehouses or stores. Hydro shops may also carry the large bags. It is fun to tinker with what your plants get. Eventually, you find your own special and unique recipe.

I agree. But since I am to dumb to get my own soil mix right from scatch. I have to ask you experts. So if you have a set 1cu or 2cu ft organic soil mix that is tried and tested ( I Know some of you do) please list it for us semi newbies to try. Much luv S Silly

soilless mix recipe

soilless mix recipe

For indoor growing, you will want to use something really light and fluffy for your soil. I like a mixture of 50% 1/4" to 3/8" ground/composted pinebark and 50% perlite. (If you are unable to find the pinebark, I would use 2/3 perlite and 1/3 peatmoss.) It is good to add at least 35% bark because it suppresses fungus diseases that attack plant roots. A small quantity of peatmoss can be added to increase the water holding capacity. 1 pound of powdered dolomite lime is about 1 1/2cups or 72 teaspoons. Dolomite buffers the soil so it does not become too acid. The perlite requires no lime as its ph is high already. The bark can be limed with maybe 2 pounds of dolomite lime per yard (27cubic feet) and the peatmoss would require maybe 3 pounds of dolomite lime per yard (27 cubic feet). To find your lime additions on a smaller scale, measure pot size radius (1/2 diameter) and height. radius x radius x 3.14 x height=volume in cubic inches 1728 cubic inches=1 cubic foot. Example to add 2 pounds per yard, 7 radius x 7 radius x 3.14 x 12 = 1846 cubic inches 1846/1728 cubic feet=1.07 cubic feet 1.07/27 cubic yard x 72 teaspoons x 2 (pounds of lime) = 5.7 teaspoons would be added. Mix your soil with the lime and wet thoroughly. After a week, check the ph and add more lime if needed. You can take 1 part soil with 1 part distilled water and stir. Wait 30 minutes and measure this liquid for ph. Gypsum can be added at about 1 pound per yard (27 cubic feet) to supply some sulfur. 1 pound of gypsum is about 2 cups or 96 teaspoons. In soilless mixes like this you should aim for a ph of 5.8 (5.6 to 6.2) Using only a few pounds of lime is desirable because most good nutrient solutions are primarily nitrate nitrogen rather than ammonia or urea. This requires the use of calcium nitrate which would further add more calcium. More magnesium can be added using magnesium sulfate. Several soilless mixes are available with lime and probably gypsum already added like promix and fafard These may be easier to use than homemade but probably have too much lime added. Once you have your soil ready all you need to do is pick a nutrient solution to use. I like Johnson's nutrient solution. It is in parts per million (ppm):

105 n,33p,138k,85ca,25mg,33s,.23b,.01cu,2.3fe,.26mn,.007mo,.024zn

Use a periodic table of the elements to find the abbreviations. You will have to learn how to measure fertilizer in parts per million. This solution will be a good starting point. Any hydroponic book like Hydroponics: a guide for the soilless grower by Benton Jones will list other recipes. If formulating your own nutrient solution is a hassle I would suggest 20-10-20 peatlite/soilless fertilizer by peters or masterblend. Sometimes they are called peatlite. It is 60% nitrate nitrogen which is good. You can order 25# pounds for about $20 plus shipping by hunting around on the internet. One final note, get a good ph meter for adjusting your nutrient solution.

I voted for Foxfarm, but I use a combo of Foxfarm Ocean Forest soil, with Earth Juice, Foxfarm Big Bud, and BioBizz Top Max organic nutes.

i like AN , and keeping it all organic at same time , their root enhancers own , scorpin juice also nice. and i like how they test their products on MJ crops prior to releaseing them for sale and post the results for all to see ubangrower.com on side note mj needs alot less love then people speak of ive had indoor highly negleted crops that still produced good buds with little to no water nutes, and messed up weak lights. i cant say who put us on earth but i can say they wanted us to smoke pot cause it built to outlast humans by about 420billion years
