This was Jesus music rock-n-roll at the Jesus commune I briefly stayed at in 1972 in NW Pennsylvania, where my older now-deceased sister later lived for a much longer time.

Phil Keaggy's 'Glass Harp'. Keaggy went on to do a fair bit of solo stuff that was very nice, too.

The Godspell era; a somewhat different variety of fundamentalists back then than dominate that category today.

He's a damn good guitarist. Missing a finger too, isn't he? Had his music around growing up. Also, Larry Norman, another free-thinking Jesus freak who was a great musician and songwriter too.

Frank Black and The Catholics covered this one later on.

Don't remember the finger, but he played with a number of people that breeched the somewhat superficial 'church barrier'.

Jesus, for more of the youngsters back then in the commune era, 'Nam vets, ex-hookers, former speed freaks, recovering street munchkins, amputees, paraplegics, a cerebral palsy gent, and more, sometimes/often meant being with people who smiled like they were on acid, offered hugs like at a Dead Show, but were typically drug-free and surrogate family for a very brief time in my life.

Still remember some of their names and a few of their faces. Some incredible stories in that commune. Truly.

Though in times of needed solace, this was a favorite during my brief orbit in that circle.
