What motivates you?

I'm wondering what motivates each of you to get up in the morning?

It may be to work toward goals you have in life, or to make sure that you put food on the table, do you just love life and can't wait to see what is going to happen today? Or mabye you don't get up in the morning, and this is a silly question. I'd like to hear your answers, no matter how motivational, silly, courageous, or depressing they may be.

i dont sleep but like 4 hrs a day...the older i get the less i sleep...i love life although i am disappointed in humanity...watching the grass grow or any other free thing that we take for granted is what actually ticks my ticker...flesh is temptation to not be you but hell im just crazy...i fall into depression at times but im sure we all do...human kind is very depressive stuff when you see it for what it is and has done and continues to do

A lot of my mornings I'm not motivated so I'll get up late in the afternoon... but that's ok, the nights might turn productive too this way. Those mornings I do get up it could be because I have a nice class I want to attend to... or if I can do a good wake and bake... also if I know I could meet friends or even that special girl I usually have no problems waking up either.

I don't really know how to improve my wake-up % either, I like to be in a position where I really can decide not to get up if I'm in the middle of a nice dream or just too damn comfortable lying there :D

What get me going

What get me going

 The sun on my face, visiting my family, and my dogs and being alive one more day, new challenges that life may bring that day.

My wife, who over the years has become an extension of my own being. My dogs and cats, who love me unconditionally, something that can't be said of most people in my life. To see the sun rise and set another day, and all that happens in between, be it peaceful or stressful. A desire to create, raise, and provide for family. Gardening, both MJ and roses and veggies. A good dinner. A good bottle of wine. Heartfelt conversation. As many have said, life is a gift to be enjoyed and savored because we only have 1 chance to get it right. I don't want to miss out on people or events that might enrich me.

I was thinking about this for a second and I first thought that what motivates me (and most people to get up in the morning) is money. But that's depressing and in my case is not a motivator since my job sucks and I am poor. I do have obligations like class and work, but they're not motivators. I guess there is no real motivation for me. My life is one continuous day with sleep interspersed at regular intervals. Usually when I get up in the morning, I just continue any activity that I was working on the night before. Like usually I will get up in the morning and if I don't have to be anywhere right away, I will just continue working on my programming project or tinkering with Linux or taking part in any of my hobbies, exactly where I left off the night before. This is the reason I end up not showering for a few days, because I don't see them as single days but one LONG day. If anyone has seen Dark City, it's sort of like how the people in that movie fell asleep all at one time, and some of them were driving, some of them were talking during dinner, etc, and then just passed out. When they woke up, they just continued talking to each other, or driving home, etc.

Damn, that sounds depressing. :) I think it came out more depressing than what I meant for it to come out as.

Now don't get me wrong. I do love sleeping. I love to dream and last night I had some awesome dreams, very vivid. I love the act of going TO sleep, feeling my body relax, feeling drifting away, entering REM sleep, breaking the surface out of REM sleep but slowly delving back down again. But it just is one more activity that I do during my continuous life.

Some people see each day as a new beginning, but I do not.

Damn, that still sounds depressing, but for some reason, I really don't see it as being depressing at all...

This is a funny question, and its one i often talk about with my father. For me its getting up for my dog, she loves me unconditionally, or she'll just scratch the wall or the headboard until i get up. Seeing the new day and the sun, theres something about the mornings that as you get older you have a deeper appreciation for it. Graduating from college and proving to society that cannabis is no big deal. If i had a family, then it would probably be for them. Ive found that since i've gotten a dogue that my sleeping has gotten more regular, and life doesn't seem to get me down as much.

I'd say ganja is a key factor in motivating me to get up...but that's because I can afford to not have a job and wake n bake every day at the moment :D.

If I'm getting up for work or school, I think fear of loss is a good term to apply (props to whoever posted that on page 1, I'm too lazy to look), because no one is really excited to do these mundane things, what motivates you is what happens if you don't.

Also I enjoy the fact that I have to power to change to course of my life. Every day may be a continuation of the previous one, and that might be fine if you like how those things are going. But if they're not, you can always pick up your life and decide to go in a completely different direction.

P.S. Pussy is a great motivator.

What motivates me to get up in the morning. A desire for that first cup of coffee. And that first bowl.

I should say that it's my desire to fulfil my lifelong dream or make a difference in the world or have a family - but really, the world is becoming overpopulated, the governments are corrupt idiots, humanity has become greedy and selfish, the environment is fuqd.... What's the point? Just enjoy the freedoms you have today, because you don't know what's coming tomorrow.

So coffee and weed then.

I think waking up everyday is a motivation itself. When I awake I think of what I have to do and do it. I hope to have a good day but it always doesn't happen. Some days are stressful and annoying but that's life. I can tell you a good day isn't complete without some frosty herb, good food, and good music. My whole perspective on the day usually changes when I smoke though. I'd say a good Sativa is a good motivator when you wake up.
