I have a current light socket in my grow room...but i cut the wires and now im planning on putting a socket in place of it.....So i have 2 power wires to do something with....Should i just wire a normal socket on the end of the power wire...and leave the other one or? use both and do four plugs?? I need some suggestions..thanks!!

i would do 4 outlets (2 receptacles). as long as you dont overload the circut then you could put as many outlets as you want.

Just make sure you put a junction box at the cut wire end if you have to lengthen the wires. If your just going to place it where it's at then it is fine just to wire it up. Just what I have been told - good luck!

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot, tell them what you want to do and they will provide the box, cover, receptacles, wire nuts and the Romex Cable necessary. Measure the distance to the nearest wall location where you want the box and secure it to a wall stud with a pair of 1 1/4" drywall screws. In older homes the light fixtures themselves are not grounded. Make sure to mate up the ground wires. Also remember that you will have to make sure that the wall switch controlling the ceiling light is secured in the ON position so one of your bro's doesn't fiddle with it.

Lighting circuits are 14 awg with ground (15 amp rated) and have from 7 to 10 ceiling light fixtures on the circuit, average arrangement in conventional construction. You may not be able to run a bunch of heavy duty items considering loading of the circuit in other areas of the home, when ceiling mounted fixtures are used. You could just remove the light bulbs from all of the other ceiling light fixtures, and possibly the bath, kitchen, hallway, entry and dining area. Replace where absolutely needed with 23W CFL's.
