I have no idea what it is, but I do know a man that would know exactly what it is and when it was made, the 'beard of knowledge' from the Pawn Stars tv show; Mr Mark Hall-Patton, administrator of the Clark County Museum in Henderson Nevada.

it is a good mystery, motivated me to look a bit
there are double ended wooden pestles, i see 'em on ebay
usually there are 2 different ends, each one has a different grinding use
but sometimes the ends are the same, so i guess i don't know anything

brother, I been looking for over 20 years. It hasn't been a quest but an ongoing search and yes, its been driving 'me' crazy for that time.
I would like nothing more than a definitive answer myself.. 'driving a few of us crazy'? I been in the drivers seat and, for me the ride to crazy isn't too far... In fact, I could walk.
