What is this thing???

found in a box of grow gear
about 2 inches long, one inch wide
no buttons, no batteries (or place to put them) no switch, no plug, no socket, no words, no letters, no serial number (or numbers at all on it), no on / off of any kind.

small suction cup on the backside (barely visible in pic)
and small slot on what is pictured as the "bottom" ( also barely visible in pic)

tried to do a google image search on it... got nothing back (maybe i did it wrong, but don't think so)

does ANYONE know what this thing is?

nope, it's also not an NSA tracking device (like my pal suggested)

It looks like a photo sensor. But it would need a wired connection. Unless it's wireless, and that means batteries or a power source. Look in that slot and see if it has pins or contacts. That might be both the way it gets power and transmits a signal.

doesnt look like anything down in the slot.... def not for something to plug into there...
the clear plastic part looks like it would change colors or hues or get darker and ligher...

Could it be a box to put a thermometer tip in so it doesn't get direct light and a more accurate temp? The suction cup would enable you to move it around on the walls or objects it could hold on to.

Perhaps a thermometer, like the cheap strip kind you see stuck to fish tanks that changes color to give you a reading.
