What IS this? I've tried EVERYTHING! Help! (Pics)

Light 'bleaching' as some call it is definately something to be careful of when you've got more airflow than neccesary. It can create the illusion of a comfortable temp, but just as a tanning booth can crisp a person, a 1000watts can crisp a plant!

i was inspecting the seedlings very close and i saw a sort of curl on the edges but nothing big so i thought better safe and bumped the light up a bit. i think ill do some studys on this and see how close i can get a vegging plant to a 1000 without burnin it. anyway thanks for the heads up.

i really think the plant can handle all the light u can hit it with, and the heat causes the stress. ive got some seedlings at about 28 inches under a 1000 mh thats not air cooled and so far everything is sweet just thick fat healthy seedlings with no stretch. id like to hear more about your idea of the light being to much for some plants. defantly i am here to pick up ideas so share themn friends.

I too thought the same thing oldtoker! I felt foolish I did not think about it more before I tried it.

Each strain has a different light tolerance to how much lumens they can handle per sq feet of space when you are indoors, the more lumens you have per sq feet the higher chances you have of causing problems.

You should try not to exceed 75 watts per sq feet of space....

This is to try to stay in the guidelines of not causing light bleaching.

When you have the high lumens in an area you have more light strength, think of it as the outdoors in the clouds and the rays of light..... but indoors there is no clouds to control the amount of rays, so if you have a high lumens in an area and have the light close like this it will end up causing a dry heat first, the lumens will dry the leaves out rather than causing a bleaching effect. Since he is using 2 400 watt's which is 800, so I think that is over 80,000 lumens, but it's not all coming right down the middle
It's coming from 2 separate sources, so the amount of lumens is not strong enough to cause bleaching but cause dry heat.
