hey man it all depends on your hood size and how high its hung. The companies will tell ya you can hang it 8ft in the air and hit a 12x12 room or something to that nature buts its all bs. How tall your cielings. On a 8 ft it should sit around 61/2 and that should do about a good solid 6 ft across or more maybe eight but the last foot on each side might need to be rotated ot keep up with the others.

Again, it depends on the height and also the reflector to a degree. I keep mine down to 4'x4' area, I don't have a rail though. Like the previous poster said, you might have to just rotate plants around to make sure they all get adequate light if you go wider. I turn mine 90* daily, switch them from the edges to the center every time I water them, makes for even-sized plants. Kind of a pain when they get bigger, sometimes I just skip it for the last couple weeks if they're "octopussing" on me.

Your 1000W will basically cover an area of 4.5' x 4.5' to an effective depth of viable light penetration at 36 inches, With an InteliTrac unit, set it up directly centered over your grow, mark the centerline on the track with a felt tip marker and then install the thumb screw stops No Farther Than 2' either side of the mark.

Think about it, the mover helps eliminate shadows. If your grow is say 4.5' x 9' and you believe you will double your yield and use only the one lamp, WRONG !!!!! the light isn't doing much for one end of the grow while it is parked at the other end, TRUE?

Your set up is good for 4.5' x 4.5' = 20 sq ft divided into 1000W= 50W per sq ft. which is the usually agreed upon wattage necessary for descent yields. Most seasoned veterans run higher Wattage psf.

Good luck

Mr Blunted, are you sure of the information that you are passing on to others. Spend a little time on lighting and exponential loss of values as the distance from the light source to the plant increases.

Man i dont know how that posted like 5 times but. I was simply giving him the widest amount that would be doable with rotating the plants. Depending if he has them on anything or if they are taller trees its all gonna matter. I was giving him a simple broad example on the biggest area that could be done.

If he ran 5-6 feet across and rotated daily he would still get good even yields on all the plants is it the best psf? prob not but most people that use light movers know it is not used to double your grow because you double the space.

Of course hanging the lights how low to the ground will always have variables... The variables we didnt know. Sorry if the info was off in your eyes... im tiered...G night

Now, you are stating 4.5 x 9, and that is will not double your grow. This may hold true because I have never done this (1\2 foot on one side and 2 extra on the other). But I grow using a 1000 watt on a mover in a room that is 4 feet wide by 7 feet long and I ave 2 lbs a grow. Before I got a mover I would ave 20 oz's. So in my scenario it works like a charm. I park it for 20 seconds on each side. So if yo have it dialed in then you can make these movers work awesome. Never seen an intelitrac which sounds cool.
Peace out

Greenisgold----the fact remains that the light is not performing at its full potential when it is parked down the line on some other girls while the others are waiting for it to get back to them. Math doesn't lie. I have a track and used it as noted above until recently when I pulled my 2 1000's and installed 4 inline 600's, now there is no shadowing and have excellent overlap. About your crop yield, just imagine adding a second 1000 and move the light only 1 foot in either direction from center-----exponentially more buds. A lot More!! The equation still remains a mathematical one my fellow stoner.

PS: I bought 2 optional trolleys for the intellitrac and removed the hanger at the bottom. I then used a ten foot piece of 1/2" emt pipe, passed it through the hanger bracket and bolted it in place. I then secured a trolley at each end and hung the hoods from the emt. This took the "load" off the intellitrac and transfered 2/3's of that weight to the trolleys.
