What IS inside a calyx?

I'd love to know what this is.
I have the same thing going with all 3 of my plants , in every calyx !
If it got seeded then it managed to seed each and every one of the calyxes!?

Is that to be expected if there's pollen around ?

I must have pulled about 30 of them from top to bottom, all have this.

I admit , when you pull one out it looks like a seed, however i can pull on out of fresh new growth and it still has the white hairs attached!?

Does a seed actually form around the pistils ? With the pistils emerging from the seed ?

I have been looking for signs of males for two days now , nothing.

Funnily enough I have pretty much browsed through all the "free your budshots " posts and cant see this anywhere except on one picture , that picture is of the same strain as im growing , Jack flash.

Could this be a strain thing , or do I just have to face the fact that my crop is seeded?

i have seen that form in some strains under some conditions in different degrees

one strain pheno in particular i had made one at the top every bud so fucking weird no pollen in 100 miles

Ureap...Did they turn out to be proper seeds ? Will this ruin my crop or can I relax and keep smoking my test buds ? :joint:

One of the plants is a definite keeper ,I wanted to keep it as a mom but if this is strain related I might leave it .

Its a mystery , no male flowers , yet all the calyxes are affected!?

my big bang has that trait it worried me first run but now I know it isnt a seed though it looks damn close....really think calyx vary by pheno

It probably is an ovule. A baby seed starts the same size. You'll know if they toughen up. Some strains have bigger ovules than others... think Ally McBeal and Pam Anderson.

this is the best post of the thread...
If it is a plant with 'oversized ovules' then they will stay soft. If it is a seed, the skin will become a thin shell and begin to harden. Even tiny white nuisance seeds have hardened skin on the surface of the ovule. If you are highly concerned, dissect a calyx each week and keep an eye on them.

I should've updated this thread with the conclusion . . .

they were NOT seeds . . . just ovules. the crop was sensimilla and turned out great :)

Thanks to all who posted!

No herms, no males, no pollen. Why the fk are there seeds in every caylx. indoors or out, reputable company with non femd seeds. White pistils or orange pistils, just the same with teeny tiny greasy balls inside what should be hollow. embarassed and at my wits end. Have yet to read a reply to this issue that addresses the problem. literally every calyx has seeds. imagine painting a flower to make seeds with pollen. Every room, every run, not a single hollow caylx. tried soo soo many varieties.. building is gross, so i can see things getting peppered here and there. the same genetics 50 miles apart from the same seed stock doin the same damn thing. AGAIN, no nanners. NO MALES. mutant? plant survival technique? please help

is it really an ovule? if you separate that from the rest of the flower and set flame to it, those little pods would be gross. im having the same issue. I don't remember being so critical in the past. however, I cut into em now, on everything I come in contact with and it's the same. certainly not fertilized or the pistils would peter out and development would cease. I don't get it because there aren't nanners... how long is pollen viable? ive BEEN TOLD once the pollen hits the floor it's done for. The pollen must travel from plant to pistil....

Reading this is a trip. I'll throw out the idea that since many intersex plants grow nanners that don't throw viable pollen, that some nanners might throw defective pollen that can initiate an ovule to grow larger but fail to become a seed. Just speculation.

Having this same problem. Havent figured it out yet. I know for a fact that the strains I used to grow years ago had empty calyx's. There were no tiny seeds.

Sometimes mine are small green seeds like the OP picture. Other times they are smaller hard white premature seeds.
I see this in all the weed around these days.

My best guess is that either 1 - they are getting hit with non viable hermie pollen somehow or 2 - this is just a trait of certain strains that is much more wide spread now a days than in the past.

I don't know the cause, but it's driving me insane.
