What is in that tar?

I smoke from a homemade bong -not very pretty but I like the way it hits. So, I end up accumulating a lot of that black tar in the stem at the end of the day....I don't smoke a lot, but I do notice a significant amount of that tar, nevertheless....almost like the better the weed, the more the tar!

Of course, if and when I smoke a joint, then everything, including that tar, gets inhaled.

What exactly IS in that tar? Does the presence or absence of that tar affect the high? I seem to always get a better buzz from smoking the bong, but I can't help but wonder why.

Tar is just from carbonization I believe, a by product of the combustion. i don't think it plays a role in the effects,you get a better buzz from a bong due to smoke density ,jmo

Whatever is water soluble in the smoke that is touching water is pulled out of the smoke, and makes the smoke cleaner for your lungs, letting you take a bigger/deeper/longer held hit. I am also curious what is in there in what quantities but as someone who has smoked my share of pipe resin i can tell you theres some thc left but its nasty and only for seriously in need moments.

Try a medium to small double or triple bubbler, and you can clean with strong alchohol

You will get a stronger hit if you use a clean bong. a lot of the good stuff will stick onto the tar before you get to inhale it.

What is i it? the same stuff you inhale, oils, cannabinoids, terps and so on, including all the nasty stuff too.

I don’t recommend it but if you’d smoke that tar it would get you high

ive heard pine tar has a lot of beneficial qualities

While we are on the subject wedelia is awesome for that. Masamao from the islands showed it in his famous thread, and explained how the natives used it for all sizes of wounds, make a paste and put a wide leaf on top to hold it on.
