What is available in seed form that can compare to BG C99 & Legends Ultimate Indica?

I am about to get back in the growing game after a long break so I am looking for what genetics to get.
My dream lineup would be C99 for daytime use and LUI for treating my insomnia and anxiety. I grew both for years back in the day and nothing I have come across since has come close to being as effective for me.
Unfortunately for me both of those strains in pure form seem to be lost to the fog of history so I wonder what is available today that can possibly provide similar effect. Aroma and flavor is of course also appreciated, I particularly miss the fruity deliciousness of my C99 keeper, but effect is my 1st priority.
If you have any opinions or suggestions please chime in!

Thank you for responding. Do you know if the Ortega cut is used in any crosses available today? From what I remember my preference leaned heavily to that side of the lineage. '"Everybody" was growing Sweettooth back then and grown well it was very good cannabis but for my medicinal purpose it would never come close to LUI

Ortega seeds are readily available. There are also many C99 offerings out there.

I found nice plants in Hazemans gear and am currently starting Kwik Seeds C99.

LUI like mentioned above is a cross of Ortega (seeds available from Mr. Nice) and Sweet tooth, sweettooth being a grapefruit cross. It would be fairly easy to recreate.

Originally from Dutch Flowers, It's been hard to get hold of in recent years but i've just done a Repro using Bodhi's release from 10+ years ago and a more recent release from a small Danish bank called Derg Corra, combining them for diversity.
Here's the repro thread:

and you can get them from Real Gorilla or PM me.

(thanks for asking)

I was not aware of the Ortega from Mr. Nice. Will definitely try to get a pack or two as I think the traits I am seeking came from that side of the crossing. From what little I can remember the Ortega was a clone of some Northern Lights and never released as seed so this is very good news for me. :)
Regarding the Cindy I actually just found 5 seeds of Mosca C99 f2 when I unpacked my growing gear so if I am lucky and can get them to germinate I am set on that front. I can barely remember growing out some from that pack but I think it came very close to my keeper from BG. After 10+ years in storage with unfavourable conditions I can not expect them to still be viable though so good to know there are still people working those genetics. Is there anyone in addition to Hazeman and Kwik I should look at? Lesters pix of Hazemans C99 looks like it has broader leaves and tighter nodespacing than "my" Cindy but after all these years it might very well be my memory that is off. :D

Wait!

Lester my friend, Mr. Nice Ortega is an NL5 x NL2 hybrid which herms a lot according to the Mr nice community. It has no relation to the "Ortega" clone line which was originally derived from Maple Leaf Wilson seed stock from early Seedbank(now sensi). Ortega was sister to AfgS and AfgT. This is the Ortega used in Legends Ultimate Indica and not related to Northern Lights.

There may be some LUI hybrids online.

Fleur Du Mal (spelling?) might be another breeder worth looking at. They have Cindy, Ortega, Sweet Tooth, Princess and just a few other reproductions/preservations. Think Cindy has been taken to f4.

Caleb at Humboldt Csi has some LUI fem crosses...I received Mendo Purps x LUI as one of zillions of freebies and it was killer....sweet candy purple tastes from the mendo but nice gassy / kush on the backend, not a mold warrior, but definitely surprising and potent.
I made some untested for fun crosses with other CSI stuff, Mendo LUI x Uzbekistan, MLUi x Burmese. Hope those do better outdoors....Also Peak C99, still is my go to....find a repro, since Mike quit a couple years ago....

This plant looks really good, do you have some pics of her close to harvest? What terp profile did she have, the pineapple one or something different?

I do somewhere in the cobwebs of storage drives. I'll find some better pics. I know I posted them on here somewhere.

The range of aroma and flavors went from pineapple to fruit punch to #137 which was like a fruity punchy flavor into a cream cheese kind of thing. It was way better than it sounds lol. It was the best phenotype as it was straight giggle pot. Reduced four grown men, seasoned smokers to uncontrollable giggles at the golf course. For hours. What a blast and I'm glad I have more seeds to run.

Hazeman plants reminded me of popping seeds of the old BG line I got from heavens stairway. Lots of variety and all good.

Thanks for clearing that up Lost Tribe!!!

I appreciate all the information on both strains!
Where is the best place to get seed from nowadays? I used to buy from Seedsdirect/Heavens Stairway/Seedboutique, is there a similar place today that carries most of the big name breeders work? Is there a place like Seedbay where the smaller breeders and pollenchuckers can sell their wares?

Meanwhile, as mentioned I did find some seed among my old growing gear. What I found was 5*C99 F1 by MoscaSeeds, 11*Medicine Man by Mr. Nice and 11*Killer Queen R F2 by House of Love. They are probably around 15 years old so I honestly didnt expect them to still be viable but got excited anyway. :)
I put 2 of each in water, soaked for 24 hrs then into wet paper towels. To my surprise both MM seed had tails after only 48hrs, 1 C99 followed 2 days later and today, on the 7th day, 1 KQR showed a tail. The MM seedlings are going well, the Cindy had problems from the get go with yellow cotyledons and no growth but it is still alive and after a few days under weak lights and very light fertigation it has greened up but still shows very little, if any, growth. I might have damaged the root when transferring from paper towel to medium or it could have run out of energy on its way to light. I hope I can still save it but won't be surprised if it dies on me.
Anyway I consider 4/6 even cracking the shell and showing a tip of root to be a great success with such old seed so I will modify my procedure slightly by scuffing the seed very gently with sandpaper, a quick peroxide dip and introduce light ferts very soon after transfer to medium to hopefully get more plants out of the remaining seed.
