What info do you share with your Dr?

My doctor has told me straight up that he feels better giving me the MMJ than the oxycodone I was on and the Adderall I still take.

I believe the only time an insurance company would even be interested, would be if the use was the reason or cause of your ailment--

Friend of mine had a serious problem when put under general anaesthetic because it reacted badly with the THC in his system, he almost died. What you gonna do in that situation? He didn't tell them about his recreational use.

Sounds like a good bs story to me..."bad reaction to thc" talk about a scapegoat..there must be another reason...

I interned at a civil attorneys office and dealt with clients files; for civil cases EVERYTHING gets examined.. I personally read where clients admitted doing heroin, coke, pills, and weed to their Dr. Sadly because of discovery i had to give this info. to insurance companies and the other attorneys. There was a signed HIPPA release form by the client...I just copied it and would fax to all parties involved. Could it be used against you in an auto accident? thats up to the jury to decide the preponderance of evidence...maybe you didnt get a drug test after the accident, but you admitted to your dr. that you smoked recently...anything is possible...Thats why I never divulge information that could possibly be used against me.

I have to admit I thought the same thing, but, I'm not an anaesthetist, what's your qualification to make such a call?

Ive worked in health care for over 30 years and I dont believe that moderate pot smoking has any negative health effects other than effects felt immediately after smoking. For instance if you smoke some really highly potent sativa your heart rate might speed up for a little while. My point is I think it is rarely important to share the info with your doc. I would never even tell an anesthesiologist or surgeon that I smoked. They aren't going to do anything differently because they have that info.

They would treat you like a generic drug addict if you informed them that you smoked cannabis. Depends on their stigmas. I keep my alcohol and other drug consumption secret from the medical profession. Though I have been to an open minded Dr and talked with HER about my use of mushrooms, cacti containing mescaline and cannabis usage.

She understands the difference between use and abuse.
