what i would "like" to do

alright, basically i've built two rooms side by side in my basement. But I already know that I'm going to be having heat issues in the summer and cold issues in the winter. I've already got a heater in the room to help maintain temps (it's been cold here past few weeks, just now startin to really feel like spring), and a 5k btu a/c unit for when it gets warmer.

grow room is roughly 4ft x 10ft, flower is 9ft x 10ft, i have a subpanel breaker box in the basement. I want to vent the aircooled reflector on my mh in the grow room into the flower room, and then have two fart fans to basically blow air from the flower room into the grow room. leaving the a/c in the flower room to cool temps. Wanting to add co2 sometime later when things really get rollin.

right now i only have a 400mh and a 400hps, but i would like to go with a 400mh in the grow (with floro's for clones/mothers) and 4 600w hps in the flower room. If temps get too crazy in the summer i can always look into exhausting the 600 lights outside the basement, pulling air from outside the grow areas so it wouldnt mess with co2 levels if i were to enrich the rooms with co2.

I'm having problems with the plants I've started though, i'm using distilled water which I've never used before so that may be a factor. you can see the plants if you look in the infirmary forum.

any questions/ideas/criticism appreciated.

Dirty: Are you planning on taking clones or starting seeds before this crop is done? If not I would put both lights in 1 room, use MH for veg now, then flower with both MH&HPS till you get more lights. I say this because of the amount of space, ie not enough Watts.I use this system and flouros in my veg box.I looked at your grow and left my thoughts on your other post.Here are my nutes

yeah i would like to take clones of these plants (k2), and i'll be starting some more seeds here in a few days.

I understand what ya mean by the wattage, and believe you me as soon as i put these plants in the flower room i'll be buying atleast one 600w hps from the get go, if not two.

i think it'll take me alittle while to fill all that space in the flower room, hehe.

Veg the K2 for a while, it doesnt stretch much when flipped to flowering, but they finish quick, or at least mine did.

I agree with Stoned Silly on the lights, put em both in 1 room till you get at least a 1k watter for your flower room. Plus the extra MH spectrum in flowering is always good.

believe you me, I'd throw a 1k hps in the room with the 400w hps atleast for starters. I think chances are i'm gonna move the crap out of the basement and into a spare bedroom, sick of the temps and i know i'll have pest issues, i already have somewhat.



after i move them over my main concern is just gonna be finding a really good yet basic soil formula, using promix hp, which is what i have and would like to use. This is only my third grow and i've never had so many nute/ph problems (or what appears to be), and would like to nip this problem in the butt.

anyways, hopefully i'll get them moved over in a few days, it would only take me a few hours of work but i have yet to find that time if you can believe it.

well the plants are gettin alot taller. I've been neglecting them with so much going on

I really need to repot them again into some 3gal or 5gal containers.

good news is, 5 confirmed females, 1 confirmed male (i'll let him go another day or two just to be sure, plants are all still vegging), so there's still 3 unknown and a superskunk which is about 2 1/2 weeks younger than the K2 plants.

i'm gonna be moving this into a spare bedroom like i was talking about, I ran the 12/2 cables yesterday and wired them each to their own GFCI, only thing left to do is wire them into the sub-breaker box. So I'll have 2 20amp lines, a 15amp line which i can later pull that breaker out and put in a 20, and also i got the 15amp breaker which the outlets in the room are on.

Lined the floor with plastic today. Tomorrow hopefully I'll wake up early enough to be able to wire up the lines to the sub-breaker box, put plastic up behind the blinds to black everything out, and put up the plastic to section off the veg/flo area and also a third area when you first come into the bedroom so that i can have some storage space in the room.

I guess it'll make alot more sense when i actually get some pics of the new room, but i'm on a heavy schedule, so lets say...two days, hehe, then i'll have everything all wired up and ready to go.

Couple Q's for anyone if they get the time, I'll also be lookin around myself as fast as I can.

1. I wanna take clones of all these females, so i can later find a good mother plant. I've only taken cuttings twice, and I would just take the cutting, dip it in rooting powder, then basically set it in a glass of water with plastic wrap to keep the clone from falling out. bootleg I know. What's YOUR fail proof cloning method? =)

2. Soil. I need a much more rounded soil mix. Right now i'm just using a promix hp, perlite mix with blood and bone meal added. At my disposal now I have the promix, perlite, peat moss, worm castings, bone/blood meal, hydrated lime, garden gypsum, garden sulfer.

I know i need to start using dolomite lime, but what else? think my current mix with dolomite lime, kelp meal, and something else would cut it?


Stopping at the depot tomorrow to get the goods to finish the room, shouldn't be more than 150 bucks to get the knick-knacks i need. Tomorrow i'll swing by the garden store to pick up any soil amendments or liquid ferts I need.


Sorry for ranting but I'm starting to get excited about this new room, it'll be much better on my girls in the long run. Hope everyone had a lovely easter.
