Like Robots? No brain? No morals? No blame? B/S.

The Trials at Nuremburg ended all those excuses. To some degree it's correct, I was forced in for 2 joints ( of crappy mexican weed ) on 4th of july weekend. So while we had the draft etc, there still comes a point when you the individual has to stand up and do what's right.

You either do the right thing or not but either way the guy in the mirror is who is to blame,

Man, why don't you have a steamy cup of STFU? Nobody gives a flying fuck about your bullshit. You have no idea what went on, the pressures they faced and what happened. Nuremburg. Go fuck yourself with your Nuremburg self.

It seem's as if all the people hurling insults at the Veitnam veterans have signed onto I.C. in the past few month's. I wonder why ?

I have been on IC since 04 and OG before that.

If you read Piel's post you would understand that our feelings are not directly related to Vietnam Veterans rather all soldiers involved in many conflicts throughout history.

The point is being a soldier is not a noble thing. Submitting your will to psychopaths then trying to defer responsibility for your actions is the act of a coward not a hero...

Even after all these years you still cannot see the error of your ways and still try to defer responsibility. Goes to show the power of princess/warrior programming and just how brainwashed you really are.

God damn it, I hit the wrong button - I wanted to quote you, I certainly didn't want to "find your post helpful".

Your princess/warrior programming is bullshit. You take a bunch of 18-20 year old mostly rural kids, 45+ years ago, no internet, no PC sensitivities anywhere, that virtually all stemmed from a culture that thought the government was normally infallible. Three TV networks as the only real source of information, all pushing the same agenda, along with most parental/teacher figures in their lives. If you are under 55 years of age, you don't have a fucking clue what was going on at that point in history.

I don't know of anyone that still thinks the war was right - that has absolutely nothing to do with them taking pride in what they shared with their peers at the time. Things like growing up quickly under fire, trying to take care of your fellow soldiers, learning major responsibility for the first time, etc, etc, etc.

"All soldiers involved in many conflicts..." Unfortunately, only historical perspective gives us a real window on whether our actions were laudable. I think that your world view is idiotic.

The reasoning of a weak poor excuse for a human. Its because of people just like you that the holocaust can happen.
But don't feel bad it's about 65% of people that think just like you. The human race is doomed...

Your just another keyboard cowboy.
It's really easy to sit in front your computer screen & comdemn someone for being honest based on a single short post.
When is the last time you broke a law which might result in your being put in front of as firing squad? I thought so, but you can talk a lot of happy horseshit & point the finger at someone else.
:moon:

Why is it that I think that these self-righteous folks so adamantly opposed to the soldier's part in the war didn't actually live through the era? As I said in the first thread, I was barely too young to be drafted when they ended the draft - my brother refused induction. From what I've seen, you won't find this bullshit anymore from the people who lived through that period regardless of which avenue they took at the time. It was far too destructive to all of us, and many of the soldiers paid the highest price of all.

Bruce referred to soldiers refusing to go - Cassius Clay was not subject to military justice, he was a civilian convicted of draft evasion.

Back in the day I protested the war, went to rally's, fought with the police in places like People's Park & the streets of Berkeley, tore up my draft card, wiped my ass with an induction notice & mailed it back, tried to get into Canada but was turned back at Flint Mi., was on the list down at local board 100 on McAllister St, SF for draft evasion.
My last official act as a draft resister was to be a smart ass, go to the Oakland Induction Center on the day I was to be drafted to file my deferment & refuse induction if I had too. While going through process I got lucky & got a 30 day extension while the government checked out my juvenile record. During that thirty I got a high 300 number in Nixon's draft lottery & never looked back.

Most of those guys who refused induction either went to Canada or jail.
If I had it to do over again I like to think I'd do things differently. In the past 40+ years I've learned a little something about honor & duty.

Rives you post was spot on & I hope your brother suffered no harm from his refusal to be inducted. Cheers:biggrin:

Being a soldier isn't a noble thing? I wonder how many cultures would disagree with you? Hundreds maybe? Look at cultures down through history they have embraced & celebrated their warrior’s/protectors.
If you don’t have the stones for it or don’t agree with it fine but don’t condemn those that do. Cause when then time comes & it will who are you going to call? The very type of person that your condemning now. It’s so very hypocritical & so very typical.

I find it curious that that soldiers that put their lives on the line in war are deemed cowards but those who have never gotten so much as a hang nail in defense of anything more than their own opinion are deemed as the true hero's

I wonder if those Christians in the middle east who are submitting their will to the psychopaths that run those countries would agree with you? Who's going to protect them? Maybe that's why they're getting slaughtered as are Christians worldwide.
Cheers

Attack & insult me rather than accepting responsibility for your own actions...

If you don't want rocks thrown at you don't cast the first stone.
You want me to accept responsibilty for a war I didn't start, a war I didn't agree with, a war I demonstrated & fought against, a war I didn't participate in?
You really ought to try to get you shit straight before you start shooting off your mouth.

Ignorance or stupidity is no excuse.

I have yet to see anyone make an excuse. Just because you have an opinion doesn't make you right

It's easy to see which left swirling shithole you swam out of & you perspective derives from that.
I'm glad to be the one to tell you this but if your an American they hate you too.

The world see's you as no different from nazi's maybe even worse! That is also how history will remember you.

You mean like the UN & the middle east, Russia & China, Africa.
Thank god.
Have a nice day:biggrin:

Is right. Not many people think the war was right , that isnt the question. Not many knew enough about their choices to be condemned. Some people dont have the luxury of choices. When I was younger I worked with Army guys for a while; ive never met better people.

My dad is a vet (HUE, Ladrang valley) and badmouthing kids who got sent to Vietnam at age 18 is really crass. Especially during the 40th anniversary. They sent the poorest kids from rural and inner city America to war in a time where questioning the government wasn't really an accepted thing. Soldiers aren't noble? Nothing more noble than putting your life on the line for your fellow man, regardless of the big picture. My dad said (in response to a conversation with a fuckass person like you), "The picture gets REALLY fucking small when bullets and grenades are flying and men are screaming; you can look at the big picture if you want to, but I suggest you focus on the motherfucker shooting at you before you are contemplating the mysteries of the universe from the inside of a body bag." I'll never forget that one. People like you enjoy your peace and tranquility due to the fact that America can beat everyone up. We keep the peace, no point in fighting each other too hard just to be #2. Ali didn't go becasue he wanted to make millions boxing, not because he had some moral objection. Getting killed/seriously wounded in Vietnam would have put quite a damper on that. If he was just another poor kid from Kentucky, he'd have been in a foxhole, like all the other poor kids from Kentucky. If America fell, the rest of these "noble countries" would fight tooth and nail for the next 500 years, probably with nukes so they could become the NEXT America. Just like Northern Europe after Rome fell. 1300 years of war, famine, and plague. The moors managed to keep it in check on the the southern front, but as soon as there was stability, they invaded Jerusalem and began the crusades. Fuckheads like yourself have such a limited understanding of the way the world works, you think everyone is just going to get along, and then some guy like Hitler comes along and you end up pushing your belongings down the street in a cart like a homeless person, IF YOU'RE LUCKY. Unlucky people went to war or concentration camps.

The whole world hates us.....and? :violin:What the fuck are they gonna do about it but buy more weapons from us and/or talk shit? Emulate our lifestyle as best they can, all the while hating out of jealousy? History will remember what ever we write asshole, winners write the history books, and in 1000 years archeologists will be debating America like they debate Rome today. The average person then, will care about as much as the average person now and it will affect their lives about that much. :nanana:

Thread closed. As was the other thread. My apologies to all, but it seems this can not be discussed without people getting extremely upset...and perhaps this is the wrong forum to do this type of discussion.
