Every now and then when a buddy and I are smoking out we'll put a dash of lemon and lime juice in with the water if the bud's low quality. Did that a lot with some shitty brick weed, when I owned my last glass bong, I would never let anybody put anything but water or ice in there.

I once used Sunkist Orange Soda. It wasn't bad while I was using it, gave a nice orange taste to the smoke. But I left the soda in the bong overnight and the next day the shit smelled so bad. Plus it like totally ruined the bong.
So nowadays it's only water for me.

Ice causes more throat irritation while lessening the waters ability to filter the non-THC particulates (phenol, o-cresol, m-p-cresol, 2,4 and 2,5-dimethylphenol, 1-methylnapthalene, 2-methylnapthalene, napthalene, benzoanthracene, benzopyrene)
It does make the smoke more dense but I believe it causes some of the THC vapors to condense and collect on the side of the bong.

i dont know man, i think its smoother with ice so i cant see how it actually causes more throat irritation...im not doubting what you said, it just doesnt make sense to me

Even if that is true it probably only applies to those times when you put ice into the water itself, instead of having the downtube twist that keeps your cubes outta the water.stizzle said:

I will sometimes use ice, but my main bong does not allow very big cubes, so it has to be crushed, so I guess you could say I use slush
I did try green tea last night, was interesting but I took such a big hit that I coughed for about 20 minutes, then i went to sleep. No doubt exhausted from the coughing fit. Wont smoke that before cleaning the bong now

I use anything with good flavour in my bongs, cola... iron bru... dilute juice... 
so many different flavourfull liquids, just dont leave anything that has a high sugar content in the bong for say.. longer than 6 hours as it will leave a sticky wall on the glass bongs. if you are using acrylic bongs then no worrys really

lol was having a few beers with pissed mate last week and we just ,in time stopped him from drinking the water in bottle bong, lol fuck it was sick looking water.
all I have to say is try anything carbonated...
especially like mt. dew or sprite.
